Chaney Instruments Digital Alarm Clock with Green LED Review

Chaney Instruments Digital Alarm Clock with Green LED
Average Reviews:

If you want a very nice alarm clock with a large display this is it. The display is hugh so it can be easily viewed from across the room and there is a dimmer setting if you want a low level of brightness. The control buttons are large and easy to use. My wife has poor eye sight and loves this clock.

Check the time from across the room without squinting with the large, green LED display on this digital alarm clock. Made by Chaney Instruments, the black alarm clock employs 1-4/5-inch high digits, ideal for users with imperfect vision. A dimmer setting adjusts the display's brightness to one's personal preference. To distinguish between times before and after noon, a PM indicator light is provided. Another indicator light denotes whether or not the alarm is on. For slow risers, a snooze button temporarily silences the alarm for a few more minutes of sleep. In the event of a power outage or relocation, the clock takes a 9-volt battery for power back-up. The clock requires the separate purchase of this battery. The clock measures 3-3/8 by 7-1/2 by 3 inches and weighs 14-3/4 ounces.

Screaming Meanie Timer and Alarm Clock with 120 dB Alarm Review

Screaming Meanie Timer and Alarm Clock with 120 dB Alarm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product lives up to its billing. I have had other alarm clocks that claimed to use a 120 decibel alarm, but they only seemed a third as loud as this. When this thing went off the first morning I used it, it just about blew me out of bed, and all I could think was "make it stop! make it stop!" It sounds like about 4 home fire alarms going off at once except much louder and much more painful.
It's Sunday evening and I'll set the dang thing again, but for 15 minutes after my regular alarm goes off. I think I'll get up quickly to shut off the Meanie before it sounds--I really don't want to hear it ever again.

IHOME iP49BZC Portable Stereo Rechargeable Alarm Clock FM Radio for iPhone/iPod (Black) Review

IHOME iP49BZC Portable Stereo Rechargeable Alarm Clock FM Radio for iPhone/iPod (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had this on my Amazon wish list and received it for Christmas! It is EVERYTHING I wanted! I could not be happier.
To sum it up in 10 easy points:
1) Want to wake up to FM? Done. By the way, the signal I get on this is BETTER and CLEARER than my Tivoli clock radio!!
2) Want to wake up to iPhone, either Shuffle or a special playlist? Done.
3) Want a rechargeable battery to make it portable without the cord? Done.
4) Want it to be foldable so you can easily pack it "to go?" Done.
5) Want excellent sound? With Equalizer? Equalizer - by the way - even available BY REMOTE? Done. This puppy puts my Bose system to shame.
6) Want to charge your iPhone 3G / 3GS standing up so you can see it (because this generation didn't come with a dock like my original iPhone did)? Done.
7) Want preset FM stations? Done.
8) Want an alarm that only goes off 5 days a week? Or just weekends? Or all 7 days? Done.
9) Want to keep your clock radio across the room because your bedside table is too cluttered? There's a remote with EVERYTHING. Even snooze! DONE!
10) Want a dock with easy instructions that you can set up in minutes? Done. You don't even have to worry about setting the time. Just plug in your iPhone and click "sync" - it grabs all the information from the phone!
I adore my iHome iP49BZC!! After hours weeks of research, as far as I can tell, it has no competitor. Buy it! You won't need anything else.

Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower Radio Review

Sangean H201 AM/FM Digital Shower Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I spent a lot of time reviewing other waterproof shower radios, and this one seemed to have a lot of customer satisfaction. I've been using this radio for about 4 weeks now. Such a big improvement of the previous radio I was using. The sound quality is very good and the signal reception is excellant. I use it in the basement bathroom and even tucked away in the shower in the basement, it manages to pull in the stations I had trouble receiving with the previous radio. Very nice.

VTech IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio with Access to Online Content Review

VTech IS9181 WiFi Internet Radio with Access to Online Content
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Imagine playing music directly from Japan while eating sushi in your dining room. Or playing Hawaiian music from Hawaii at your next luau. With this WiFi internet radio you can listen to music from all over the world and save your favorites with just a push of the "favorites" button. Then the next time you want to listen you can go directly the the "My Stations" list and choose one of your favorites. I have a classical station in Italy, an oldies station in France, a Celtic station in Ireland and some radio stations in the midwest that I grew up listening to in my favorites list. I also have a French news talk station to keep up on my French. In my video I'll show you how to make some of the internet radio selections and find your own favorite stations.
One of the other options is to listen to music from your computer on this device. The included manual gives simple instructions, with some photos, for setting up your computer so that you can connect via WiFi with this internet radio and play your favorite mp3's, WMA's, Real audio, MP4 and M4A files. There are instructions included for Windows 2000, XP, Vista, Mac OS 10.4 and 10.5. I've listened to music from both my Windows and Mac computers without any problem. And the good news is that it's easy to set up, even for a non geeky person. The internet radio is also simple to set up. When you turn it on for the first time it asks you if you want to set the time, weather setting (your zip code) and wireless settings. It looks for your WiFi network and asks you to enter your password. I used both the little dial on the top of the radio and the remote to make entering it faster.
I mentioned in my video review that you can use the RCA connectors on the back of the unit to connect to other speakers, such as your stereo speakers. The RCA connector cord isn't included with the radio. There is an auxiliary audio cable included to connect another device such as an mp3 player to this radio (audio in). If you wanted to connect earphones, like the type from an mp3 player I think an adapter like this would work 2 x RCA Male / 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable, 6 inch
The sound on the video is limited not only by the camera, but by the compression into a video small enough to show here. It sounds so much better in person. But I hope the video gives you an idea of the different menus and features.

Battery for HP iPaq hx2495 - Super Extended Life Review

Battery for HP iPaq hx2495 - Super Extended Life
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
At first I was not so sure about the quality of the battery, but overall now I am quite convinced. It works perfectly and, indeed, it has a little more life than the original one, but it is not that different, hence only 4 stars. I would have liked that it lasted longer. I have a Hx 2495 and also a 2795 and it works well with both models. But there are some minor issues, at first the Ipaq does not refresh correctly the charge of the battery. It took me a few soft resets to get it right. Now it seems to work fine, although the charge from 98% to 100% could be tricky sometimes.

Coby CDRA147 Digital AM/FM Dual Alarm Clock Radio/CD Player (Black) Review

I was almost scared off by the negative reviews here. I really need a radio/cd player with a headphone jack to use with my pillow speaker so I don't disturb my husband. This clock radio isn't too large for my night stand and the sound quality is fine whether I'm listening to a CD or the radio. I did hold on to the shipping materials in case mine quit after three days like someone said...I did not get a defective one so I tossed the boxes. :-) I am very pleased with this clock radio and I do think it's a bargain.

Sony ICF-CD815 AM/FM Stereo CD Clock Radio with Dual Alarm Review

Sony ICF-CD815 AM/FM Stereo CD Clock Radio with Dual Alarm
Average Reviews:

The old clock radio finally died and my husband and I thought it would be nice to have a CD player in the bedroom to listen to audio books in bed now and then (yes, I know, but it depends on the book!!). We've found the sound quality on such an inexpensive item to be extremely good, it's easy to tune the radio in and we like the huge time display - I can even see it without my glasses at night!! So far, it's awakened us at our ridiculously early get up time during the week without fail. No complaints - very happy with this clock/radio/CD player.

Elgin QA Twin Bell Alarm Clock, Silver Review

Elgin QA Twin Bell Alarm Clock, Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This model is a great alarm clock to use for either nostalgia, to use for a desk clock (like I do), or for a regular alarm clock. It has a lighted dial, and a snooze feature - both which are operated by pressing down on the handle of the clock. The pewter finish goes great with my black and gray decor on my computer desk, and would be great for any modern setting, while still looking like an old fashioned clock to boot!
It also has a loud alarm that would be good for people who need an alarm clock to wake them up, but not one that needs winding every day, as it takes one 'C' battery. The ends of the hands are also illuminated for night viewing when the lighted dial feature is not activated.
For the money, it is a great buy, and unlike the other poster, I've had my clock with the same battery in it for the past year, and it hasn't drained down yet!

Big Mouth Alarm Clock Review

Big Mouth Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice travel alarm clock. It's a plastic case, not super small, but small enough, simple to use. Does not always wake up my super-sound sleeping daughter, since it automatically shuts off after a minute (or 30 seconds?). It has two alarm levels, the alarm is a higher frequency that hard of hearing people may not hear, but would generally wake up anyone that wants to get up. I also use it as a back up alarm for when I have to catch a flight, and I don't have to worry about not hearing it, even when I put it 10 feet away from my bed....

Mikasa Delancy 4-Inch Crystal Clock Review

Mikasa Delancy 4-Inch Crystal Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Have you tried to find a small, attractive clock for a bathroom or bookshelf in the stores lately? There's very little out there. This Mikasa crystal clock is attractive, heavy enough to be sturdy, and very quiet. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it doesn't come with the battery as described, and there were no directions that mentioned the battery size needed. Fortunately another reviewer said that it takes an "N" battery which I was able to find in the grocery store. I thought the price was very reasonable for the clock so I wasn't too upset about having to buy the battery for a few dollars. I'm happy with the clock and would buy another for a gift.

Tivoli Audio Model Two AM / FM Radio, Black/Silver Finish Review

Tivoli Audio Model Two AM / FM Radio, Black/Silver Finish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Lets be frank, the BOSE system is definitely an overpriced product. It is OK product that performs so so... it is also $500. If you really would like a system that sounds 100 times better and costs slightly less, I would look into the Tivoli Model 2 with the Tivoli subwoofer addition. I have tried both, and was only satisfied when I got my Tivoli Model Two. The Tivoli Model Two is definitely going to be classic and a system people talk about for years... mark my words. It was designed by Henry Kloss, one of the most important sound engineers of our time. I have the newest ipod dock with remote hooked up to it and it sounds amazing! Keep in mind that this is a system for people who like to LISTEN to music. True Hi-Fi... not another boomy window shaker system. The Tivoli system has incredible sound separation a really impressive sound stage. Oh and did I mention that it is really cool looking? It has real wood cabinets, minimal solid design+ it does not have the look of a bedside alarm clock!
Hopefully I have just saved some of you true music connoisseurs the headache of having to return their BOSE products... or not. Yours faithfully, Sonic Boom.

The Tivoli Henry Kloss Model Two Radio with companion speaker, the Tivoli Model Subwoofer and the Tivoli Model CD are designed to be used together as part of a complete compact stereo system but are sold separately from each other.
All the elements of the component system have classic styling that makes Tivoli products so distinctive. Simplicity and elegance are engineered into all three components and, for the most part, we came away impressed with what this little system could do in terms of sound quality, as well as its ease of use. It's worth noting here that all three components sport separate ports for AC and DC power, making them a great choice for boating or RV use.
Henry Kloss Model Two The Model Two serves as the base unit for the Tivoli component system. It is very similar to the Model Three clock radio, without the alarm clock section. Like other Tivoli radios, the Model Two is just over 8 inches wide, 4.5 inches high, and 5.25 inches deep--about the size of a toaster turned on its side. The unit also ships with a companion speaker which, unlike the monaural Henry Kloss Model One, gives the system full stereo separation.
The Model Two has a single rotary dial that handles tuning for both AM and FM stations. The dial is designed to move between stations at a speed that's a bit slower than the speed at which the user turns the knob--a five-to-one ratio, to be exact. This ratio dialing technique makes it far easier to tune stations accurately and quickly. It's a nice touch that sets the unit apart from other desktop radios. The tuner band selection and volume dials are easy to control, and they're well designed for hands of all sizes. A small LED power indicator, as well as an LED that helps determine signal strength, are positioned between the dials. We did have one gripe about the Model Two controls, though--the same gripe we had about the Model Three. Unlike the high-contrast labeling we found on the Platinum Series Model One radio, the Model Two's blue-gray lettering atop a taupe background is difficult to read, especially in low-light situations.
The Model Two's 3-inch driver is housed next to the tuning dial and is protected by a handsome metal speaker cover. The companion speaker contains the same driver in a form factor that is the same size and construction as the Model Two's main unit. A 15-foot RCA speaker cord attached to the companion speaker allows you to set the speakers well apart in a room--great for getting optimal stereo separation. There's a small balance dial on the rear of the main unit as well as a mono-stereo switch.
A coaxial antenna jack for the included FM antenna wire is provided, although the Model Two also has an internal FM antenna. Tivoli recommends using the supplied external antenna for tricky tuning in locales with a lot of closely spaced stations. There's a handy switch for alternating between the internal and external antennae, as well. A standard 3.5-millimeter headphone jack is also provided, as is a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary line-in port for plugging in the Model CD. For the really techno-savvy, there's also a 3.5-millimeter mixing input that permits audio from your computer to be mixed in with the radio. A preamp-out jack is provided for the Model Subwoofer, and if you want to use the Model Two as a component tuner--not a bad idea given the overall quality and accuracy of the tuning circuitry--Tivoli has provided a 3.5-millimeter output port.
Model Subwoofer At 6.5 inches high, 9.5 inches wide, and 6.1 inches deep, the Model Subwoofer is a bit larger than the other components in the Tivoli component system. While a 5.25-inch bass driver dominates the front of the unit, there's also a deep front port for added bass response. A bass-level dial lets you decide how much of the low end you want to hear. The on-off switch has a sensor that automatically activates the subwoofer when a signal is detected. With 20 watts of power, the Model Subwoofer is an impressive little box with the capability of dramatically extending the fullness and richness of the Model Two sound.
Model CD With its cherry wood casing, Tivoli's component CD player matches the Model Two perfectly while offering equally simple operation. We really liked the elegant slot-loading mechanism; it felt solid and reliable. Basic functions like play, stop, and track selection can be controlled on the unit. There's also a tiny little remote that adds shuffle, direct track selection, repeat, and intro-scanning functions. True to form, the remote is simple and easy to use. The Model CD's display is bright and crisp with the look of a high-end audiophile-class component. We played a number of CDs, including CD-R discs with nary a hitch. Tivoli says that the Model CD will not play CD-RW discs, however.
A 3.5-millimeter headset jack is provided on the back of the unit, as are RCA outputs and an AC power port that connects to a supplied brick-style AC adapter. The unit is also capable of running on DC power.
All Together Now Setting up the component system was fairly straightforward. All of the inputs and outputs are clearly marked, and each component ships with everything you need to make the right connections. Although it might be too much to ask for, it would be great if the Model Two main unit had an AC power input for plugging in at least one of the components. This is admittedly a minor quibble, and it might not be feasible in such a small device.
Just like our experiences with other Tivoli products, sound was impressive--full of clear highs and mids and rich, room-filling lows. The Model Two tuning feature felt less accurate than the Model One, but we still were able to dial in stations quickly and easily. Overall, we recommend the Model Two as a high-quality mini-component system, because systems this size rarely sound this good. Even without the subwoofer engaged, the sound was rich and resonant. As soon as we plugged in the subwoofer, though, we were transported to near sonic bliss. It's a must-have accessory for the Model Two.--Joshua Gunn
Pros
Simple, stylish construction on all the component parts
Great sound from such a compact system; good tuning accuracy
Subwoofer option adds exceptional dynamic range
Cons
Tuner is slightly less accurate than the Model One

Powermat One Position Charging Mat with HTC EVO 4G Receiver Review

Powermat One Position Charging Mat with HTC EVO 4G Receiver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I happened to be strolling through Best Buy this weekend and snatched this up. I have been looking for a dock-type solution for my EVO that lets me easily charge the phone at night since I use it as an alarm clock. My charging cable plugged into my headboard just wasn't a good situation, and I wanted something better.
The first unit I got at BB seemed to work well at first - I put everything together, and plopped the phone on the pad. The pad made the sound and lit up, but the phone would not charge. My phone charged just fine via regular cable. Further, an iPhone 3GS charged just fine on the pad as well, so the culprit was in the back case and its mini-usb connector.
After returning the defective unit to BB, I now have a new one that charges my EVO wonderfully! Except for one problem - the auto-shut off feature. The problem is, when the phone reaches 100%, the pad turns off as designed. However, my phone is still using battery power after that, and the battery begins to drain. The pad will eventually realize the phone needs charging again, but not until the battery has gotten significantly low - about 50% or lower. As soon as I reseat the phone, the pad starts charging again no matter what percentage my battery is at.
This is a problem - what if you pick up the phone from the pad after it's gone through a full charge and then drained significantly? You have to reseat the phone and wait to charge to 100%. This is ridiculous. I have contacted Powermat to see if this is an issue with just my unit, or if this is an issue in general, but seeing as the iPhone 3GS doesn't appear to have this same problem, I am guessing this is either a design flaw in the EVO product, or in my specific unit. However, given my initial experience, I am hesitant to bring the unit back to BB to potentially get another failed unit!!!
