Sonic Boom SBB500ss Sonic Bomb Loud Plus Vibrating Alarm Clock Review

I've had a history of sleeping through alarm clocks. This past summer I lived with a few other people and they would come into my room in the morning and yell at me, because my old alarm would wake them up but I would sleep through it, despite the fact that it was positioned right next to my head.
While I do not believe this alarm reaches 113 decibels or that it is louder than a jackhammer, I will say that it is much louder than your standard alarm clock. The vibrator works very well and is guaranteed to wake up even the deepest of sleepers. You can put it under your mattress, which will cause the majority of it to vibrate, or you can place it against a solid object which will cause a loud vibrating noise. I opted to keep mine under my mattress.
Many people have posted that their units burned out or that it kept time incorrectly. This is because they failed to look at the directions. In the directions that come with the alarm clock there is information detailing a switch on the backside of the unit. It is labeled 24hrs 50hz, 12hrs 50hz, and 12hrs 60hz. This switch not only controls the time format(12 hour vs. 24 hour), but also controls the tuning of the internal electronics. In European countries, 24 hour time format is standard, and wall outlets alternating current runs at a frequency of 50hz. In America, most people use the 12 hour time format, and our electrical outlets operate at a frequency of 60hz. What this means is that if you have this switch in the wrong position, you run the chance of damaging your unit, and you will notice that the time will not be accurate(it says this in the manual).
The only thing that keeps this alarm from getting five stars is the face that I can't use the 24 hour time format. I live in the US but work on a military base and have become accustomed to the 24 hour time format.
tldr; This alarm will wake you up, just make sure to read the manual or you run the risk of incorrect time and a fried alarm clock.

Sony ICF-C490 FM/AM Clock Radio with Super Loud Alarm Setting Review

Sony ICF-C490 FM/AM Clock Radio with Super Loud Alarm Setting
Average Reviews:

It is just one tiny little button. One tiny little button behind the snooze bar. One tiny little button that you probably won't even realize is there, until it is too late.
I think I'm a smart guy, but it took me and my significant other a week to figure out why the ... my alarm would mysteriously shut itself off, seemingly on a whim.
Maybe it's my fault. I admit I didn't read the instruction manual. But it's a clock radio! Why should I? I'm in the IT industry. I don't need no stinkin' manual!
Or maybe the mention of the tiny little button is not in the owners manual. no difference. the tiny button might wreck you too.
The tiny button is right behind the "snooze" button. The BIG snooze button, the button you smack with your big swarthy, sleep deprived American hand when you're mumbling "forgodsakesjustshutupandletmesleep!"
The button is the "alarm cancel" button. And let me tell you, it is far, far, far too easy to hit, and it will shut your alarm off until the next day. And you will slumber peacefully until you wake with a start realizing that it's an hour later, and your Sony ICF-490 clock radio is sitting there silently.
The Sony engineers (and most clock radio "engineers") had/have the right idea to make you slide a switch or operate some other kind of gizmo that requires some waking coordination to shut off the alarm. Indeed, you have to slide a switch on this clock radio to shut the alarm off, a logical operation. But then, for some reason, they added the "alarm reset" button to the top of the radio. behind the snooze bar. the tiny button from hell.
If you've read this far and you aren't scared yet, the thing does keep time. And the numbers are nice and big and bright, which is good if you're like me and half-blind (as well as swarthy.) The radio reception pretty much is awful, but if you the station you want to tune in is broadcasting from underneath your bed, you should be ok.
But you should really avoid this alarm clock if you actually have to get up in the morning. I've trained myself to gingerly reach out and tap the snooze like a little girl but needless to say, I'm shopping for a replacement. And then, when I find it's replacement, this clock will pay the ultimate price.
I'll leave you with a little haiku:
Sony Alarm Clock
sleepy hand reaches for snooze
sun rises, late again.

Sonic Boom SBA475ss Analog Loud Plus Vibrating Alarm Clock Review

What was once a lost cause has now turned into self-discipline and little nagging from parents. This alarm clock uses a variety of methods that change until it is turned off. There are a variety of buzzer sounds, lights flash, and the ingenious mattress jiggler that all combine to get our son out of bed on his own most of the time. We still do a run-by to see if has ignored it, since we are so used to having to shake him to wake him. We have been pleasantly surprised to see such an improvement!! I think the other half of the equation is his desire to wake up, and we're still working on that, but at least he hears and feels this one!!

This clock is listed as an extra loud alarm clock. You can barely hear it if you were already awake. What a joke. If you depend on this clock to wake you so your not late for work, forget it. I think someone tapping his finger on a piece of cotton would almost be as effective. I sent it back.

Avoid sleeping through a class or missing the bus to work because of a wimpy alarm. Equity by La Crosse's 30240 Super Loud Alarm Clock rouses sleepers, blasting out of two black side speakers. Equipped with two alarm volumes, the user can opt for the 70-decibel LO alarm for weekends and relaxed wake-up or select the 95-decibel HI alarm to jolt one out of bed. A repeating 9-minute snooze temporarily silences the alarm. To set the time, alarm, and volume, and to activate the snooze, function buttons are provided on top of the silver plastic-cased clock. The clock conveys the time in .9-inch-high red LED digits. With a PM notification light to signify hours after noon, the clock also benefits from an alarm-on indicator light. The clock plugs into any grounded outlet to run on AC power. In the event of a power outage or relocation, the clock takes one separately purchased 9-volt battery for back-up power. The clock measures 6 inches wide by 2-1/2 inches deep by 3 inches high.

Big Mouth Alarm Clock Review

Big Mouth Alarm Clock

Nice travel alarm clock. It's a plastic case, not super small, but small enough, simple to use. Does not always wake up my super-sound sleeping daughter, since it automatically shuts off after a minute (or 30 seconds?). It has two alarm levels, the alarm is a higher frequency that hard of hearing people may not hear, but would generally wake up anyone that wants to get up. I also use it as a back up alarm for when I have to catch a flight, and I don't have to worry about not hearing it, even when I put it 10 feet away from my bed....

Reizen Super Loud Alarm Clock with 1 8 Inch Green LED Review

Reizen Super Loud Alarm Clock with 1 8 Inch Green LED

I have hearing loss in both ears & now require hearing aids during the day when I'm out & about. But I don't wear them at night & I'd begun having trouble hearing my regular alarm clock which resulted in over-sleeping & being late for work. I liked this clock because it's very streamlined, the buttons are all in the back, it has a really big snooze bar & it doesn't take up too much room on my night stand. I can hear the alarm just fine & never over-sleep any more. My only issue is that the numbers are so big that they give off a little too much light. I get around that by turning the clock away from the bed on those nights when the light is too much for me. Otherwise, I'm very happy with the clock.
