Electronic Chime Alarm Clock Review

Electronic Chime Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I really wanted to like this chime clock. I don't like waking up to blaring sirens or radios. This offered a quiet progression of real chimes to wake me up.
First, the chimes are relatively quiet, so while they wake me up, they don't wake up my boyfriend. You could consider this a good or bad thing :) If he had bought it for him, he'd be pretty annoyed. As it is, it works out well.
The chimes aren't "gentle" though. They are sort of harsh sounding. I'd much rather have wood-on-metal - with the current setup there is a sharp tone to them.
The clock is able to run on batteries of power - but they don't supply a power unit so unless you find one that matches, you are stuck with batteries. With batteries, the clock only lights up (so you can see the numbers) if you press a button. The unit is so light that you really have to grab it to push that button in - which makes it start chiming. It's really a pain to look over, not know what time it is and have to grab it and make noise to find out.
A similar problem happens when you want to shut off the chime. The button for snooze is equally as hard to press in. To actually turn it off, you have to slide a lever - however, the far left position is "ON" (as in always chiming). So it's very easy when trying to slide it from alarm to OFF in a leftward direction (while sleepy) to set the darn things on permanent chime.
There are several other units for slightly more money that don't have these issues, so I suggest you look at those in comparison.

Timer, Meditation; Invisible Clock II Review

Timer, Meditation; Invisible Clock II
Average Reviews:

I bought this timer for my meditation practice. This has to be the the most complicated timer that I've ever tried to use. I like that one can set different beeps, but the beep doesn't work every time...and most times it doesn't beep. The settings are not easy to use, and it took hours to read and re-read the pamphlet that came with the time. The timer is incredibly small, and the reading is difficult to see. You can't just re-set a timer. You have to re-program every time. I don't recommend this timer, especially if you meditate in a dimly lit room.

My Mom's eyesight is failing and this was the perfect gift for her last Christmas. She couldn't see well enough to set a traditional alarm clock, so this was a wonderful solution.

Talking Timer with Clock Review

Talking Timer with Clock
Average Reviews:

I have been using mine for almost 4 years. I play paintball and ref paintball tournaments. This is as about as handy a item as you would ever want. I finally ordered me a new one, after my old radio shack one's clip broke off. It still works just fine, just no way to clip it onto my glove. Batteries lasted me almost two years, so you wont need to be buying batteries every other month like one of the others I tried after my clip broke off my old one.
Weather you play paintball or just need something that talks the time to you, counting up or counting down, this is a handy item. I would give it a 5 rating, but the clips on the back arent the strongest, and tend to break off. Other then the clip I have never had an ounce of problem with mine.

Datexx The Miracle Cube Timer Review

Datexx The Miracle Cube Timer

Yeah, yeah, I know. How much effort can it save when you can set the timer on your stove nearly as fast? But this thing is uber-cool. Just turn it so the desired time is facing up and it begins to flash and you're off.
The complaints are minor:
1) It's never easy to see the LCD window that shows you how long you've got since it's a) small and b) always in an awkward position.
2) The alarm sounds just like my alarm clock. That's never good.
As soon as you pick it up you realize how it works: There's a metal ball bearing inside that makes contact with two points and begins a preset timer based on which side is up. It's simple and absolutely brilliant and makes everything from cooking to laundry just a little easier.

Salubrion Enso Pearl Review

Salubrion Enso Pearl
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received this in the mail a few days ago, but already it has become my favorite timer. You have the ability to set 3 different types of interval timers. I use the first for a full session, second for an abbreviated session, and the third for a basic 5-minute interval timer.
There are 5 alarm tones available, and the bell tones are all gorgeous and very high quality. I was surprised that such a tiny speaker in the back could produce such a realistic tone. Also, the volume setting can be set anywhere from barely audible (perfect for my meditation work) to a tone loud enough to be easily heard in a group setting. From quietest to loudest, the tones are just as clear and without distortion.
Salubrion has listened to its Enso v.1 customers and put tactile indicators on a few of its buttons. The backlight button has a raised bump in the middle, the snooze has a raised ridge, and the alarm on/off has a small raised bump.
One thing I would like (as did owners of the previous version of the Enso) is a constant-on backlight option. According to the manufacturer, this is not an option due to limited power availability in the AAA batteries. I understand that a backlight will drain the batteries more quickly, but let ME decide that. Surely a single LED backlight bulb would be effective enough to see my timer in the dark without putting a strain on battery life.
My Cons List
For unknown reasons, one of the 5 available alarm tones is a traditional beeping alarm. Isn't this why people by the Enso, to get away from a traditional alarm? It seems counterproductive to the whole spirit of this company. Weird.
I don't QUITE like this as an alarm clock. My current alarm, from Now & Zen, features a progressive alarm which gradually increases the frequency of the alarm bell. I wish the Enso had the same feature, but instead I get a constantly repeating bell sound. It's more peaceful than a traditional clock, but not as nice as my Now & Zen clock.

The timer functions great and very useful. However.. A76 button batteries are at least $4.00 each (needs two)and I needed to change every month. NOT worth the expense.
