RCA RP3755 AM/FM Dual Wake CD Clock Radio Review

RCA RP3755 AM/FM Dual Wake CD Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My number one criteria in my search for a clock radio is a digital tuner. If you set a radio station you want to know that you are on that station. Having an analog dial be off slightly may mean you will not hear what you expect or maybe you will hear nothing at all. I am not aware of any other digital tuner clock radio close to this price. This one seems to perform fine. The CD is a good feature, and the unit comes with a CD of interesting sounds. I have been waking lately to mission bells and birds, and it beats the bad news on the radio!
The controls are reasonably straight forward once you get the hang of it. The clock brightness can be lower for night time, although it could be even a little dimmer.
Overall not a bad radio and I got mine at a good price.

GPX CC319B AM/FM Clock Radio with Dual Alarms and Top Load CD Player (Black) Review

GPX CC319B AM/FM Clock Radio with Dual Alarms and Top Load CD Player (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this radio five days ago. I needed a decent clock radio that played cds, had a repeat button, and was unobtrusive enough to be on the nightstand. When the radio showed up there were no instructions in the box, which I figured was okay since it's just a clock radio. After I got it plugged in and the time set, I tried to play a cd. The power button wouldn't turn it on. With no instructions I felt stupid not being able to figure it out. I left it plugged in over night and the alarm worked fine on the morning. The next night I tried the power button again and was able to play a cd all night to help me sleep. The cd player makes a whirring noise that was distracting. Since my sleep cds are mostly white noise the extra noise was annoying. I think if it was music it might not have been so noticeable. The next night I was all set to play a cd at bedtime and, again, no power. That was Thursday night and it's now Sunday and, with the exception of the clock and alarm, there hasn't been power since the second night. I don't hear any short so I think it's just a bad machine, maybe too cheap. I'm returning it tomorrow.

Timex T155LX Expedition Bell and Nature Sounds Alarm Clock Review

Timex T155LX Expedition Bell and Nature Sounds Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
this is a fine alarm clock. it has funny nature sounds and alarms (my favorite is the babbling brook). I think the intention is that you put on the nature sound before going to sleep and it will help you sleep. great idea if the ocean sound, for example, didn't remind me of flushing toilets. I mean the sounds are muffled, like they are inside a box. the nature sound loops are short (about ten seconds then it repeats not too noticeably). the forest sound is mostly a bunch of crickets and the occasional hooting owl (if you into that sort of thing). anyways, this is a fine alarm clock in an attractive green package, but if you want to sleep to the sounds of nature, but one of those CDs, or move to the country.

The Timex T155 expedition bell and nature-sounds alarm clock features aneasy-to-use rotating bezel for time and alarm settings. A bright red, 1-inchdisplay indicates alarms 1 and 2 and battery-low icons. The dual alarm makesthis clock perfect for working couples.
You can wake to your choice of three unique alarm sounds: mechanical bell, songbirds, or elephant. You can fall asleep to the sounds of a babbling brook, ocean surf, or forest spring.

Emerson AM/FM Clock Radio with CD Player and Remote Control – CKD2330 Review

Emerson AM/FM Clock Radio with CD Player and Remote Control – CKD2330
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is such a bad product. I seriously want my money back, but it's not even worth the hassle. Luckily, I decided to use it as my CD player in my bedroom, and not as an alarm clock. I keep this thing all the way across the bedroom from my bed, and I STILL have to drape heavy clothing over it every night in order to be able to sleep, and I am NOT a sensitive sleeper. The display is so freakishly bright, it actually illuminates my entire (rather large) bedroom with it's horrible blue glow. There's some garbage about an "automatic dimmer" in the description of this product, but that is pure bull. It's supposed to dim when the lights go out, but if anything, it actually gets brighter. I cannot imagine how anyone can sleep with this next to their beds. Furthermore, what's the point of the horrifically bright time display if you can't ever read the time unless you're facing it directly face-on, and about an inch from the display? Whoever designed this is an idiot, as the bright blue background almost completely obscures the black numbers that show the time. The colors are too close in tone or brightness for there to be enough contrast to read what the display says.
Another problem, and this one is even "funnier" than the aforementioned: as we speak, my month-old Emerson clock-radio is speeding through the time, literally. It has some weird tick, where, if you use the remote control to control the volume, it affects the minutes part of the time as well as the volume. If you hold down the up or down volume buttons for any amount of time, the minutes start freaking out uncontrollably. For instance, as I write, my clock is going through 11 am over and over and over again at warp speed. It would be funny if I didn't pay for this piece of garbage.
All of that being said, the CD player in my experience is serviceable. Mine plays burned CDs as well as normal ones. The sound quality is decent for such a small player.
If you are thinking of getting this as a clock or alarm, please think carefully: the screwed up volume-time function, the horribly bright display, and the almost complete lack of contrast between the time digits and background make this virtually unuseable as an alarm clock.

was so well cared for and packaged I didn't care. Very good condition which gives me confidence in buying something used on Amazon now when desired.

Philips AJ396517 Stereo CD Clock Radio Review

Philips AJ396517 Stereo CD Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I thought that I had found the perfect clock radio: handsome, dual alarm that is easy to set both forwards and backwards, good sound with CD... My only complaint is the readability of the display. Despite boasting a super big blue backlight for easy reading, I find the LCD display often difficult to read. To be perfect, Philips should have stuck with a good old fashioned LED. Despite this shortcoming, the AJ396517 is arguably the best CD clock radio out there.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Philips AJ396517 Stereo CD Clock Radio

The Philips AJ396517 CD AM/FM stereo digital alarm clock features a dual alarm that can be set for two different wake-up times. You have the choice of waking up to your favorite CD, radio station, or beeper melodies. When waking to a CD, the silent CD alarm begins with a preselected track that's ready to play.
The clock is quartz controlled for accuracy. Press the repeat alarm to switch off the alarm for seven minutes at a time. The 24-hour alarm reset eliminates the need to manually reset the alarm after each use by automatically resetting the alarm function for the same time on the next day. The weekend sleeper makes sure that either one or both alarm functions are switched off during the weekends.
Using the sleep and slumber feature, you can listen to music while falling asleep without the worry of having to turn off the radio. This feature plays up to 90 minutes of music and automatically shuts off. The radio PLL tuner allows you to store up to 30 FM and AM station presets.
This clock radio has a self-powered backup. In case of an interruption in power, the clock will hold the time and alarm settings for three minutes.

Curtis CR4947 Vertical CD Clock Radio Review

Curtis CR4947 Vertical CD Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My first CD clock radio was a Memorex. In my opinion, it faded out prematurely, so I did not replace it with a Memorex. I shopped for a low end unit with good reviews. This particular unit had two reviews. One was positive and the other was DOA. DOA is better than slow-death because it can be returned promptly, whereas, slow-death can kind of catch you unawares. I bought the unit in March '08 and have waited till Aug. '08 to comment, figuring a five month test period was a reasonable length.
I like this unit. Everything works and continues to work. I didn't buy it for the radio, but do use the CD player almost every day. The speakers aren't bad for their size. Controls are easy to find and use.
The upright design makes for an odd looking unit, but it is very convenient. It's as easy to use the unit while lying down as not.
The sleep bar is certainly easy to find -- you can't miss it. If you like to wake up slowly, this is very convenient. On the other hand, the alarm is very loud, but with the big sleep bar it's easy to stifle. It's certainly not an alarm you could sleep through.
If the power is turned on, the LCD is very bright. It needs to be on to operate the CD player or radio, but is not needed for the alarm clock. Turning the power off dims the LCD, which is preferable at night.
This unit takes up very little horizontal space, which is a plus. My old unit devoured available space, so I only ever kept it in one place. This unit fits into small areas, so I move it when needed. The back-up battery maintains settings during relocations.
Unless this thing suddenly dies without cause during the next few years, if I have to replace it sometime, I would definitely want the same unit.

Memorex MC7104 - CD clock radio - black Review

Memorex MC7104 - CD clock radio - black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While the Memorex Loft had some features I desired such as battery backup, duel alarms, and expandable speaker, its drawbacks make it basically unusable as far as I can see. The back light on the display is way too bright even on the dim setting and the number display is very difficult to see even in the best of lighting conditions. Waking up at night and trying to see the display simply blinds you. The control buttons on the front of the unit are too small, and impossible to push without holding the whole unit to keep it from moving. I ended up taking it to work to use for music while I work. It is pretty much useless as a clock radio in the bedroom.

Memorex AM/FM Clock Radio with CD Player (MC2842) Review

Memorex AM/FM Clock Radio with CD Player (MC2842)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This alarm clock is a joke. It has radio/CD, but the radio barely works, NOT a digital tuner by the way, (I live in the suburbs too)and the CD player is almost useless. It has one of those annoying string attenaes that you need to pin to the wall to get any reception whatsoever, and the CD player takes at least 30 secs to 1 min to recognize a CD. After putting in the CD and hitting play, if you want a track 4 or 5 tracks in you cant hit "skip track" to fast, or it will freeze and not play at all. It has all the basic alarm features, digital clock, snooze, 2 alarms, and you can set the alarm to CD or Radio. Lastly, the buzzer noise it has to wake you up is horrible. I don't think could be a worse sound. Every time i wake up I want to bash it in with a sledgehammer. Save your money folks.

This clock came out in Korea a little over a week ago. I bought it at my favorite Korean store to use in my bedroom. It(sony) is a great American brand I always try to find American things to put in my house. I got this one because i like Sony a lot. I have had a Sony clock beofer this and it lasted for many years. I just got it yesterday and i used it last night. Even though the shape seems a little wierd with the time being to the back of the clock it did not make a very big difference. I think I actually like it better the time being not right in your face, like most other clocks have their screen at the front of their machine. This is a wounderful clock my by one of the best American companies in the WHOLE WORLD.

The Sony ICF-C723's unique, high-tech design with function controls cleverly set in the base, stands apart from ordinary clock radios because it saves nightstand space, letting you place it almost anywhere. The synthesized tuner with PLL (Phase Locked Loop) provides the most accurate drift-free tuning of AM and FM radio stations. And the five random memory presets offer convenient one-button tuning of your choice of five favorite radio stations. A dual alarm permits you to set two separate wake-up times, especially useful for working couples. And the self-power back-up maintains clock and alarm settings in case of power failure. Leave yourself wake-up messages and personal reminders on the built-in IC chip to remind yourself of that day's business and other appointments. Message will be played at wake up time (before and after alarm) helping to ensure that your message has been noted.

Sony ICF-CD832PS Psyc CD / AM / FM Stereo Clock Radio (Black) Review

Sony ICF-CD832PS Psyc CD / AM / FM Stereo Clock Radio (Black)
Average Reviews:

When you need to get up, you need to know that the alarm clock will go off and won't blink 12:00am at 9am after a power outage, or anything like that.
There is NO BATTERY BACKUP! Keep this in mind if you are using it as a bedside clock. In an office, it's fine, but it's not the wisest design having an alarm clock with no battery back up.
The only protection it has is a 60 second clock memory. So if you're power outage goes on longer than 60 seconds...don't expect to make it to work/class on time.
It looks nice though, and is an attractive clock/cd/radio... but that's about it.

I really love waking up to the music of my choice! Contrary to another reveiw here, you CAN program this to play any track first or randomly pick one for you. It sounds great for its size, fits easily on the nightstand without overcrowding. Working flawlessly since purchase (4months). Glad I took a chance, as I was not familiar with any jWin products. Control labeling should be more clear; I need to turn on a bright light to change settings but I think its to not distract from the handsome look. Since being laid-off a few weeks ago, Im still letting this clock wake me (a little later). I just love waking to a favorite artist! Bob

Sony ICF-CD831 CD Clock Radio with FM/AM Radio and Extendable Snooze (White) Review

Sony ICF-CD831 CD Clock Radio with FM/AM Radio and Extendable Snooze (White)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the best alarm clock I've ever had, except for one thing. No battery backup. I suppose I could plug it into one of my UPSs to alleviate that problem, but I was surprised at how quickly it lost its memory after power loss. It would also be nice if it had a digital tuner, but that isn't a big deal to me since I don't use it for readio much. If I did use it for radio a lot, it would drive me nuts manually tuning to stations.
I love the snooze feature where you can keep tapping it to change when the next alarm will be. The ideal alarm clock would be similar to this one, with a battery backup, and a digital tuner. Oh yeah, it sounds pretty good too. I have it set play a nature sounds CD when I wake up. When it plays the morning birds I sometimes confuse the recording for the real birds outside my window, and vice versa. I'm not saying these are excellent speakers, but they definitely sound good for an alarm clock. Oh, and it looks pretty stylish to most of the other boxy CD alarm clocks out there.
In short, a very good alarm clock, but plug it into a UPS if you want to be sure you won't be late for work because of a power outtage in the middle of the night.

MEMOREX 00654 CD CLOCK RADIO WITH DIGITAL PLL & DUAL ALARM Review

MEMOREX 00654 CD CLOCK RADIO WITH DIGITAL PLL and DUAL ALARM
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this radio because it was so much prettier than any of the others, but it's loaded with functions and quite well manufactured. The alarm for CD/radio is nice because it starts out soft, and slowly grows louder. You can pick what track on the CD or radio station you want to wake up to. The reception is pretty good. I have the radio on a shelf in my bookcase, and without unraveling the antenna or even unwrapping it out of its cellophane, the stations come in clear. It almost has too many functions, and I don't think I could ever get rid of the manual. I can hit the snooze button and set it to 5, 10, 20, 30... up to 60 minutes, and it has TWO separate alarms. Pretty cool. There are two light settings. I've never had a backlit face on my alarm clocks because I really enjoy pitch black darkness as I sleep (even have a black night cover over my window) but I was surprised at how quickly I got to sleep with the clock set to dim. It was probably because I set the sleep function and listened to my relaxation CD. I love this clock. I've preset 9 (the maximum) radio stations and now just have to push a button to get to my favs. The CDs I can program what order I want the tracks played (maximum 20), repeatedly play back one track, have random playback, or just play them in order. I've only played them in order. The one problem I've found is that my favorite nature CD I can play, but I can't have it used as an alarm CD because it doesn't have the label "compact disc digital audio" and the manual says that it doesn't conform to CD standard. I tried. You can connect the clock to an externl audio unit... I really don't know what that is, I only mention it because I'm the first one reviewing it, and thought this info would be handy to someone. As well, there's a place to plug in headphones. Also, the manual's written in English, Spanish and French, if that helps anyone. I took about half a year of researching and looking at different clocks, and am glad I purchased this one. But I was very nervous about buying one that didn't have a review, so that's why I wrote this one. Hope it helps.

Read the other reviews on the other clocks... lot's of complaints.
I have had this for a week and it works great and the controls are simple.
One great feature is the alarm reset. You just hit the button to turn off the alarm without having to reset it again for the next night. It also has a snooze.
Waking up to CD is great (it does play CD-Rs). A minor complain, but it always starts on the first song regardless where you left it the night before.

Wake up to the tunes you like rather than the choices of your local DJ with this Magnavox clock radio, which comes equipped with a CD player and an analog AM/FM tuner. The dual alarm features three different settings--for rising to a CD, a favorite radio station, or the buzzer--and is ideal for households with two people who wake at different times. It also includes a sleep timer and repeat alarm, along with a battery backup that activates during a power outage. Groggy users will appreciate the large, easy-to-read LED display, which displays the time clearly so you won't misinterpret the hour. In addition, the CD player also works intuitively, with the standard skip, repeat, and pause functions people have come to expect. The clock radio carries a 90-day warranty against defects.
