(More customer reviews)This thing is pretty nice because if the power goes out it'll automatically reset to the correct time (either the one set at the factory or the one that you've tweaked, if the factory preset was a bit off). It's not atomic, but it's the next best thing. The radio comes in pretty good too, depending on how you have the antenna positioned (the FM antenna is built into the power cable, and the AM antenna is an iron rod built into the case). It keeps the time when the power is out by way of a small lithium "button" battery. The instructions say that, depending on how long it was on the shelf at the store, the battery could last up to 5 years and that when it does get low a light will flash in the bottom-right corner to alert you. It can even be set to awake you at different times set by you on weekdays or weekends, although the process to do this is a bit convoluted, but if you read the instructions carefully it's easy enough. You can set the alarm to wake you up by way of the radio, or a beeping noise. The beep should awaken even the heaviest of sleepers (after all, it wakes me up). The instructions say that the beeping will rise in volume until you press the alarm button to reset it until the same time next day, or until you press the snooze button to make it sound again in 8 or 9 minutes (can't remember the exact number). Just make sure you don't press the snooze button 7 times or it will NOT sound again until the next day! So keep track of how many times you push the snooze button, get up the first time or risk oversleeping. Overall, this is a very nice, affordable alarm clock. I must also say that the instructions are very informative and easy to understand.

(More customer reviews)Like so many people, my girlfriend had a hard time waking up in the morning. So much so that she was at risk of loosing her job. No amount of gentle coaxing or not so gentle coaxing would raise her from her slumper.
I bought this little gem with out her knowledge and set it up in the shadows. The next morning at 6:00 am, the bed shook violently like a motel's magic fingures and was accompanied by the loudest alarm I have ever heard. Thank the gods that I was already out of bed because the girl had jumped out of bed screaming and throwing things. Needless to say, she was none to pleased... but she was awake.
Despite sleeping on the couch for a week, it was worth the laughs and her getting up on time for work. Getting to work on time was another task all together.
I strongly recomend this item!

(More customer reviews)Not surprisingly, I chose this clock for 3 reasons: it sets itself, it projects the time on the ceiling/wall, and it's quite inexpensive. After a needlessly painful setup (more on that later) it set its own time, and the time projected on the ceiling is easy to read with my glasses on (just barely readable w/o glasses).
The first problem I encountered was plugging the power supply into the clock. It uses a standard coaxial DC power connector that plugs into a socket on the bottom of the clock. Unfortunately, the hole through which you access the socket is not only much larger than the socket, but so much larger than the socket housing (a box containing the socket connector) that unless you have sharp eyes and carefully align the plug with the socket, the plug will slip into the gap between the socket housing and the hole in the clock case.
After getting the power connected, I left for work, and when I returned, the clock showed the correct time--only off by 3 hours. OK, so I needed to set the time zone. There are no buttons labeled "time zone", "TZ" or anything similar. A quick check of the manual (don't lose that manual!) revealed an unintuitive process for setting the time zone (typical of devices that don't have enough buttons):
1. Hold down the "Mode" button for 3 seconds. The currently selected time zone will be displayed.
2. Click the "Mode" button until your time zone appears.
3. Click the "Snooze" button.
Despite its poor design features, this clock basically works as advertised and is inexpensive. Since most of the time, you won't need to touch it, if you can read relatively dim, red 3" numbers on your ceiling, then it's probably a good choice. Just don't lose the manual!

Sangean RCR-8WF Internet Clock Radio Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased the RCR-8WF as a replacement for an old Panasonic clock radio mainly for the Internet radio capability and for use at night. It is not a bad radio but seems more like a work-in-progress than a well thought out product.
My issues with it are:
1) The sleep timer takes three button presses to work. Turn the radio on, press the sleep timer button, then press select. Try doing this in the dark when you are half asleep! It should take one - press the sleep button. This is the way their other radios work.
2) The display brightens to full when any button is pressed. The manual says that you can dim it in this mode but is does not keep the setting. You can dim it but then comes back full brightness the next time you hit a button.
3) The internet radio takes about 15-30 seconds to change stations or to come on the first time. I understand the technology involved, and could deal with this if it were not for the other issues.
I contacted Sangean a week go about these issues and still have not heard back. I will be returning it and waiting for a more mature product.

(More customer reviews)The clock is, as the other reviewer stated, light and at first feels "flimsy." It's plastic, and a little bigger than a deck of cards; smaller than I was expecting.
The 'ticking' issue is pretty irrelevant I can't hear it in my bed and it's literally fifteen inches from my ear, so it's really a non-issue. The light feature is great, the alarm works well, and the deco-styling is pretty nice for a clock this size. The top solar panel works as the "snooze" / alarm off button, which is handy.
Overall, quite pleased. I hope it holds up.

Electronic Chime Alarm Clock Review

(More customer reviews)I really wanted to like this chime clock. I don't like waking up to blaring sirens or radios. This offered a quiet progression of real chimes to wake me up.
First, the chimes are relatively quiet, so while they wake me up, they don't wake up my boyfriend. You could consider this a good or bad thing :) If he had bought it for him, he'd be pretty annoyed. As it is, it works out well.
The chimes aren't "gentle" though. They are sort of harsh sounding. I'd much rather have wood-on-metal - with the current setup there is a sharp tone to them.
The clock is able to run on batteries of power - but they don't supply a power unit so unless you find one that matches, you are stuck with batteries. With batteries, the clock only lights up (so you can see the numbers) if you press a button. The unit is so light that you really have to grab it to push that button in - which makes it start chiming. It's really a pain to look over, not know what time it is and have to grab it and make noise to find out.
A similar problem happens when you want to shut off the chime. The button for snooze is equally as hard to press in. To actually turn it off, you have to slide a lever - however, the far left position is "ON" (as in always chiming). So it's very easy when trying to slide it from alarm to OFF in a leftward direction (while sleepy) to set the darn things on permanent chime.
There are several other units for slightly more money that don't have these issues, so I suggest you look at those in comparison.

Description says it requires one AA battery, but it requires three. Handling Instructions say "Change the battery once a year ..." - I will be (pleasantly) surprised if they last that long.
To set the alarm or clock, one has to remove the cover on the back of the clock, which is okay to set the time, but which makes setting the alarm a pain. I don't care because I'm putting this clock in a guest room and don't expect guests to want to set the alarm. If it turns out that lots of guests DO want to set the alarm, I'll buy a different clock.
The light can not be turned on - it comes on when you push the little button and goes off when you let go.
The bottom of the clock is slightly warped so the clock wobbles a little - won't sit completely flat.
I'm glad I didn't pay any more than I did for this clock ($16.97) because it is worth about $8 -$10, maybe less, in my opinion.

What a great surprise! I ordered this simply to have a clock in the bedroom that could be read in the dark without glasses... and that is exactly what I got, but much much more! I plugged this guy in and it showed the correct time! Checked the instruction pamphlet (actually printed large enough to read!) and found that this clock will automatically keep up with the correct time and automatically reset for changes to daylight savings and back! This is great for me because we have a lot of clocks and getting them all changed twice a year is a real chore... especially the ones that require two buttons pushed at once or whatever. I've been buying expensive atomic clocks simply to get rid of this problem, but this one is MUCH better than an atomic, where you have to diddle with getting good reception and then wait while it updates... sometimes overnight! This little guy is programmed for all time zones, just flip a well labeled switch on the back to select yours... not a menu, a good old switch that you just have to change one time! What a great invention... I hope all clocks will adopt this system. NO worry about power outages, no problems if you're moving... just unplug it and plug it in at your new location... it kept time while it was unplugged!
And as far as being readable in the dark, the numbers are so big it's almost scarey when you look at it at night... 10 STARS!
I'll get back with an update if I discover any problems or failures.
UPDATE after one year of use.
1. This clock has never failed to show the correct time and has never failed to alarm properly, even in my rural area where power blips are a norm.
2. One reviewer says there's no way to change the time if it's wrong... that's INCORRECT!
3. One reviewer can't figure how the clock knows what time it is... well obviously it's set initially in the factory... but probably the reviewer was just joking. It is set up and maintains its settings with a small battery which is rated "up to 5 years" durability.
4. Another reviewer pulled the batteries and says this ruined his clock... can't imagine why he'd pull the batteries in the first place, but I do know there are instructions for doing this. Do note that the clock itself is the plug-in type... it only uses the battery to power the memory/setup chip.
After a year of use, this is still my favorite clock and I get mad every time I have to change batteries on my Atomic Clocks because they are such a hassle and I paid over twice as much for them. This is the one to buy. I am looking for Chaney to come out with one that can show me the outdoor temperature as well and I'll scrap all my junky atomics.

This past summer I lived with a few other people and they would come into my room in the morning and yell at me, because my old alarm would wake them up but I would sleep through it, despite the fact that it was positioned right next to my head.
While I do not believe this alarm reaches 113 decibels or that it is louder than a jackhammer, I will say that it is much louder than your standard alarm clock. The vibrator works very well and is guaranteed to wake up even the deepest of sleepers. You can put it under your mattress, which will cause the majority of it to vibrate, or you can place it against a solid object which will cause a loud vibrating noise. I opted to keep mine under my mattress.
Many people have posted that their units burned out or that it kept time incorrectly. This is because they failed to look at the directions. In the directions that come with the alarm clock there is information detailing a switch on the backside of the unit. It is labeled 24hrs 50hz, 12hrs 50hz, and 12hrs 60hz. This switch not only controls the time format(12 hour vs. 24 hour), but also controls the tuning of the internal electronics. In European countries, 24 hour time format is standard, and wall outlets alternating current runs at a frequency of 50hz. In America, most people use the 12 hour time format, and our electrical outlets operate at a frequency of 60hz. What this means is that if you have this switch in the wrong position, you run the chance of damaging your unit, and you will notice that the time will not be accurate(it says this in the manual).
The only thing that keeps this alarm from getting five stars is the face that I can't use the 24 hour time format. I live in the US but work on a military base and have become accustomed to the 24 hour time format.
tldr; This alarm will wake you up, just make sure to read the manual or you run the risk of incorrect time and a fried alarm clock.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these clocks at different times, one for myself and then one for my grandmother, who has macular degeneration and absolutely loves this clock. Although the previous clocks aren't branded "Reizen", they're identical to this one. I'm buying another one for my grandmother so that she can have one in her bedroom as well as her kitchen.
This is a great clock, even for those with normal vision, but especially great for those with low vision or the blind. One tap on the big top button that runs the length of the clock speaks the time in a pleasant and very understandable British female voice, and a second tap speaks the date. There are no tiny extraneous buttons to accidentally push, which is important for low-vision users and a serious flaw in many other similar clocks.
There's an option for speaking the time on the hour. The time and date are set automatically according to the time broadcast from the NIST government clock in Colorado, so there's no need to fool with it when the time changes. The functions all make sense and are very easy to set, and the alarm setting as well as other other features are confirmed by voice. The clock uses AA batteries that last a long time, at least two years under normal use and they are simple to change.
The single lacking feature is a backlight, which would be nice for night table alarm clock use.

(More customer reviews)My 19 year old son was always a very hard sleeper. Throughout his school years, we would have shouting matches in the morning trying to wake him up to get to school on time. Mornings were always chaotic and seemed to get off on the wrong foot! We had even tried medication prescribed by his physician to try to help him change his sleep habits. This failed miserably.
When he moved out and went out into the workforce, he had trouble keeping jobs because he was always reporting late to work. Which meant he constantly had trouble paying his bills now that he was living on his own.
One afternoon, he asked us if there wasn't something we could buy that could "shock" him each morning to wake him up. As a last ditch effort to help him, I decided to browse online for something that could "shock" him awake.
I discovered this clock and decided to try it. To get to the point, he has not reported late since I gave him the clock. Thank you Sonic Boom!!

Unfortunately, the clock is uncomfortable to wind (stiff, and jams your fingers when the winder recoils), but more importantly it doesn't keep the time! Stops for fifteen minutes every now and then, then starts up again, so you'd never know it stopped unless you caught it in the act.

(More customer reviews)I bought this timer for my meditation practice. This has to be the the most complicated timer that I've ever tried to use. I like that one can set different beeps, but the beep doesn't work every time...and most times it doesn't beep. The settings are not easy to use, and it took hours to read and re-read the pamphlet that came with the time. The timer is incredibly small, and the reading is difficult to see. You can't just re-set a timer. You have to re-program every time. I don't recommend this timer, especially if you meditate in a dimly lit room.

General 99320 - Sunrise System Model 320 LED Light Kit Review

(More customer reviews)So the thing that they don't tell you is that LED are directional and don't give diffuse light. In order for this sunrise simulator to work, you have to be facing the box. When the box is on full strength, the light from the box doesn't even remotely light up your room not to give you the effect that it is dawn.
The box itself is extremely cheap, light plastic, which considering the height of the box is not such a good idea if you plan on using the sound alarm as well.
True Sun LLC also has ridiculous shipping prices for this box. I live a one hour drive away from them and it still cost $15 to ship the box. And now if I want to return this box, I have to pay for all the shipping costs and pay them a $20 fee to return this item. I may go there in person and tell them how I really feel about this box.
The picture is quite misleading, the box does not get that bright.

I love it and I've only had it for 10 minutes. -Unlike most AA battery walk clocks this one is very silent - no tick tick tick to drive you crazy. - it's a simple to operate analog clock. - Note that is a oval (wide) clock and not round as in the picture, which makes it look even nicer - All the hands and numbers are luminous sure beats a digital clock! - this one for the price is a wonderful deal. Big enough for a desk but light enough for travel. Do keep it in a bag as the front face can scratch easily. It's 5" wide and 3" high (approximately). It's a comfortable attractive desk clock with no winding needed.
