We wanted a clock that would be easy to use, easy to see, have a pleasant sound that was loud enough for a person to hear, and the alarm feature had to remain on day after day.
This clock has everything we were looking for---and more. The clock itself is very easy to see. The alarm feature has a pleasant female voice who repeats her reminder to take your medication until you turn it off. This clock has the ability to have four reminders in a day. If you only need two reminders, you can turn the other two off. You can set the reminder for whatever time works for your particular schedule. This clock also helps an elderly person maintain their independence a little longer.
You need to buy this talking alarm clock if you are having a stressful time with your aging parent bristling at your reminder phone calls. After all, it's no longer YOUR voice telling her it's time to take her meds. If you find yourself waiting for a call---that often doesn't come---from your loved one that she has indeed taken her medications, you need to get free of that hassle and buy this talking alarm clock. We couldn't be happier with how this little clock has solved so many problems.

(More customer reviews)I've been looking for a replacement Clock Radio for a while. I just purchased the Nextplay (Dream Frequency) alarm clock radio with voice Recognition. It was fast and easy to set-up (not easy for non-tech people). The clock has an all digital display with a black back-lit background (with 3 levels) and 1.4" white numbers. You can wake to a Buzzer, AM/FM Radio or your iPod, or other MP3 Player.
Voice Commands work as advertised. You can use a voice prompt to set the: Time, Alarm, Snooze and Sleep Timer. You can ask for the Time, Alarm Setting and Turn On the AM or FM Radio.
This makes a great very low-cost gift for your favorite gadget lover.Note: The Clock Radio feels solid built. However, at $20, I have no idea how long this will last. I'll enjoy it while it lasts.

Suspended Animation Clock- Silver w/ BLUE LED Review

(More customer reviews)Product is made of very cheap plastic. While active, the unit shakes quite a bit. The actual blue LED is kind of cool, but after a couple minutes it's very annoying and it's near impossible to see at a distance. There is no on/off switch, only unplugging and doing so causes the date/time/custom messages to be erased. Wish I wouldn't have destroyed the box or I would return it. Now I'm stuck with a paper weight that will never be turned on again.
I do not recommend this product at all.

(More customer reviews)I purchased two of these clocks at different times, one for myself and then one for my grandmother, who has macular degeneration and absolutely loves this clock. Although the previous clocks aren't branded "Reizen", they're identical to this one. I'm buying another one for my grandmother so that she can have one in her bedroom as well as her kitchen.
This is a great clock, even for those with normal vision, but especially great for those with low vision or the blind. One tap on the big top button that runs the length of the clock speaks the time in a pleasant and very understandable British female voice, and a second tap speaks the date. There are no tiny extraneous buttons to accidentally push, which is important for low-vision users and a serious flaw in many other similar clocks.
There's an option for speaking the time on the hour. The time and date are set automatically according to the time broadcast from the NIST government clock in Colorado, so there's no need to fool with it when the time changes. The functions all make sense and are very easy to set, and the alarm setting as well as other other features are confirmed by voice. The clock uses AA batteries that last a long time, at least two years under normal use and they are simple to change.
The single lacking feature is a backlight, which would be nice for night table alarm clock use.

Moshi IVR001 Voice Control Alarm Clock Review

- you CAN change the volume, the buttons are on the back and there are three settings
- you CAN change the night light from single to multi so you don't have to have a disco show
- yes, there are only three sleep sounds but they last 15 minutes, not 5. Granted they are not the best, but this clock was really not made for that and would probably do best by eliminating that feature
until it is fine tuned.
- you have to speak the commands exactly as directed or you will get errors. For example, you have to say "hello Moshi" and then "set alarm" NOT "set the alarm" or it will not understand the command and do nothing.
- I would like the option of setting the nightlight to a preferred color however.
- the nightlight colors are a little too bright, but gorgeous!
- if you don't have the nightlight on in the dark, you can't see the clock. How could this have been overlooked when making this clock?
- It is made of plastic but I don't think it looks cheap. I have never had a glass alarm clock before so why should this one be different?
- it is made in such a way that if you have cats, like I do, walking around your nightstand they cannot change the settings or turn your radio on jolting you awake. This is priceless to me!
You do not have to listen to a full explanation every time you set it unless you pause too long after saying giving a command. If you wait too long, it will give you an explanation. One in a while it will confuse a command or a time set but it is rare for me. In fact, I make far more errors on clocks I have had to manually set than this clock has.
If you plug it in the wall, the unit operates by voice command but the alarm will shut off by touch or voice. If you install batteries, you can operate everything manually from the back buttons but it is not practical because they are very small. You can turn the alarm clock off by touch regardless if it running on batteries or is plugged in.
Do I think there is room for improvement? Of course!
Is it worth the $49.95? For me it was!

(More customer reviews)The clock itself is a pretty cool travel clock. It's small and has a sleek design. It runs on batteries and is made for travelling. What I don't like about it is the fact you have to press a button for the backlighting to turn on (for 5 sec.). Plus you have to press another button to ask it what time it is. When i'm sleeping I don't want to have to reach over to see what time is. Also the alarm is not very loud.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item with not the highest expectations. Basically I wanted to get my brother a cool travel alarm clock with some kind of new technology. I figured if there was any kind of voice activation feature, great, but really I just wanted to get him something cheap and interesting and this seemed to be a good fit.
First thing I noticed: it's a lot tinier than I expected! Fits in the palm of your hand.
Second: as long as you speak clearly, the voice activation works great and is very intuitive! I even heard him moan 'shut off' one morning when it went off and even though I thought he was barely legible, it worked.
He's extremely happy with the present, and I am too.
PS- the alarm sounds are, um, interesting (read: bizarre choices), but certainly effective. I like the bells.

As I was saying in the video, I compared the reviews to the Moshi Talking Alarm Clock (that you can also find on Amazon) but so many people were unhappy with the forced disco night light. The iTalk, on the other hand, is just your run of the mill alarm clock with the added function of voice commands which is all I wanted. I really like being told "Good morning, it is 8:30 AM" instead of being bombarded with an annoying sound but if you want the nerve wrecking sounds, you can still have it. Unlike one of the other reviewers, I had no trouble at all getting iTalk to understand what I'm saying as you can clearly hear in the video.
I would recommend this product to anyone lacking dexterity such as senior citizens and I would also recommend this product to anyone who just likes neat toys and/or being lazy.
The one feature I would like to see is the ability to disable the alarm with your voice if you wake up before the alarm sounds. As of right now, the only way to do that is to manually flip the switch in the back. Although, if you /wait/ until the alarm sounds, you can easily just say "Alarm Off".I hope my video helps you make an informed purchase.

So, I wanted an alarm clock that 1)Tells the time by talking to me, & 2)Is battery powered. This fits the bill nicely. I've had this one since the early 90's, & it's never failed me.
Oh, by the way: it does not use up the batteries fast. They last a good long time.

(More customer reviews)I bought this clock previously from Radio Shack under their brand name. All our frends were amazed at how clear that it sounds. We liked it so well that we wanted to give them as Christmas gifts, but Radio Shack no longer sales them, so I went looking on the net and found them here.
The sound is loud and clear and can be heard softly throughout the home. This clarity is very importent to my wife because she is handicaped, and with this talking clock she doesn't have to get up to see the time, she can hear it. I've tried others but the sound of their mechanical voice isn't very understandable.
