(More customer reviews)This thing is pretty nice because if the power goes out it'll automatically reset to the correct time (either the one set at the factory or the one that you've tweaked, if the factory preset was a bit off). It's not atomic, but it's the next best thing. The radio comes in pretty good too, depending on how you have the antenna positioned (the FM antenna is built into the power cable, and the AM antenna is an iron rod built into the case). It keeps the time when the power is out by way of a small lithium "button" battery. The instructions say that, depending on how long it was on the shelf at the store, the battery could last up to 5 years and that when it does get low a light will flash in the bottom-right corner to alert you. It can even be set to awake you at different times set by you on weekdays or weekends, although the process to do this is a bit convoluted, but if you read the instructions carefully it's easy enough. You can set the alarm to wake you up by way of the radio, or a beeping noise. The beep should awaken even the heaviest of sleepers (after all, it wakes me up). The instructions say that the beeping will rise in volume until you press the alarm button to reset it until the same time next day, or until you press the snooze button to make it sound again in 8 or 9 minutes (can't remember the exact number). Just make sure you don't press the snooze button 7 times or it will NOT sound again until the next day! So keep track of how many times you push the snooze button, get up the first time or risk oversleeping. Overall, this is a very nice, affordable alarm clock. I must also say that the instructions are very informative and easy to understand.

Infinity Instruments Retro Spotlight Alarm Clock - in your choice of colors Review

Description says it requires one AA battery, but it requires three. Handling Instructions say "Change the battery once a year ..." - I will be (pleasantly) surprised if they last that long.
To set the alarm or clock, one has to remove the cover on the back of the clock, which is okay to set the time, but which makes setting the alarm a pain. I don't care because I'm putting this clock in a guest room and don't expect guests to want to set the alarm. If it turns out that lots of guests DO want to set the alarm, I'll buy a different clock.
The light can not be turned on - it comes on when you push the little button and goes off when you let go.
The bottom of the clock is slightly warped so the clock wobbles a little - won't sit completely flat.
I'm glad I didn't pay any more than I did for this clock ($16.97) because it is worth about $8 -$10, maybe less, in my opinion.

This dual-alarm clock, with battery backup and manually-tuned AM/FM radio, sets the time "out of the box" when you plug it in: for the eastern time zone: alarming perfectly in sync with my iPhone. It has large red numbers/letters that can be seen, at night, from across the room. The AM/FM radio has very good sound for music or talk radio. The dual alarms allow for 'everyday', 'weekdays only' and 'weekends only' alarms using buzzer, radio, or "soothing sounds". The time projector can be manually rotated thru 90 degrees for wall or ceiling projection of large red 12 inch to 24 inch numbers; and the display can be inverted, focused, or turned off completely. Wake up at night and see the time on the ceiling: no eyeglasses needed for me! If they had added a 'weather' radio band that my other clock radio has, and an AM/FM remote, it would have earned this clock radio the extra half-star rating star, but that 'other' clock radio doesn't project time on the ceiling and it blinks after a power outage while the Timex automatically resets the time. I like this Timex T736S very much and it's now 'pulling duty' in a primary bedroom. Highly Recommended! Four and a half PRECISE Stars! (Rating upgraded on 8/19/2011 after a power outage that proved it's auto reset value.)

(More customer reviews)If you're just looking for a great alarm clock, this is it! The time automatically sets as soon as it's plugged in. The function buttons are easy to use & not too small. Thankfully, the clock is smaller than it appears in the photo, it's trim & neat. The sound is clear & strong. I like the added feature of weekday/weekend alarm, I never have to turn it off. My one concern was that I like to set my clock a few minutes fast, but no problem, not only could I manually adjust the time, but when I unplugged the clock it not only had the correct time when I replugged it, it also kept the time I had adjusted it to. After you hit the snooze button the alarm light blinks to let you know that the alarm is still active and will be going off again in 9 or 10 minutes. I was searching for an alarm clock for a while, this one makes me very happy.

(More customer reviews)Purchased two of these clocks as the price was right and I liked the blue LED lighting. Within one week, one of them started losing time and digits on the display. I could no longer depend on it daily to wake me for work. Fortunately, I already had another which works fine. Trashed the other one, the hassle to return and get a refund was not worth it. This is not the first time I purchased nicely presented, reasonably priced, junk electronics items from here. In the future I will pass up similar "great deals" on reasonable priced junk electronic items. Three stars for one working, one not.

(More customer reviews)I ordered this lock to replace another electric clock tht had quit functioning. In fact it never did work very well, and was very difficult to set the time. I never was able to adjust the time to be correct SOOOOOO.....I was glad when the thing bit the dust. I didn't even wait for the new Elgin to arrive before I packed the old one in my trash can and happily waved "Bye-Bye" to it.
The Elgin arrived and I unpacked it....plugged it into the socket, set the eastern time zone and watched it set the correct time automatically. That's it, folks. My clock was up and running....as easily as anything I've ever owned. There is an up and down adjustment button to zero the time in should you need to do so.
I am very happy with this clock, with AMAZON.COM for the ease in locating it and the entire ordering process. I looked for electric clocks, zeroed in on ELGIN because I was very familiar with them for timepieces.....going WAY back. I picked the model I felt would fit my needs and ordered it. I could not be happier with the clock I now have on my bedside table. Thank you, AMAZON. I am already a repeat customer.....and will go to you for my future needs.....FIRST!!!

(More customer reviews)My husband and I went through 4 other alarm clocks before we settled on this one. This alarm clock provided everything that was missing in each of our previous alarm clocks. It has a large easy to read from across the room display (but can be dimmed or shut off and then on again w/a wave of the hand), has two separate alarm settings which you can set for weekdays only, weekends only, and weekdays and weekends also w/buzzer,or radio which each of the two alarms can be set to individual preference. Both alarms are displayed constantly underneith the time (which is suprisingly reasuring feature to have) and my husband likes that the alarm shut off button (radio on/off) is a big round button off to the very left side of the alarm which allows him to turn the alarm off every morning without first putting his glasses on and then hunting for the off button. I love it that once you tap the off button, it turns the alarm off for the day and then automatically resets itself to wake me up again the next day. I also have the option to not shut the alarm off and listen to the radio for an hour as I get ready for work, after which time it will shut itself off until the next day again. All in all a very good buy and well worth the money!!

However, the clock radio was shipped on February 9, 2011 and on the evening of May 16, 2011, it inexplicably died. I did everything that I could think of to get it to work again, but now it is just trash. Don't buy this radio. I didn't want an alarm with RED numbers. The green is softer looking.
The alarm comes with the BACKUP batteries already installed. The instructions say to plug it in and the time is automatically set, which it is if you don't remove the batteries. However, if the time is off by a few seconds you have to set the clock.
THEN you have to get the instructions out.
The controls for setting time and alarms are on the back/top. If you are older, as I am, you will need your glasses to try and see what to switch.
The radio is not "HI-FI" but is OK for an alarm.
CON:
The only "complaint" I have is with the -time zone- button.
You push the button until you set the correct time zone for where you live. Problem is, it does not display ANYTHING to tell you WHAT time zone you are setting. I guess this is OK, all you do is push the button until the correct HOUR displays.
I would give it -5 stars- except for the time zone setting and the difficult to read SMALL PRINT instructions and switch settings on the back. When you are older it is next to impossible to read these.

Oregon Scientific RM336PESA ECO+ Projection Clock Review

(More customer reviews)I only got a chance to test this product and not to use as I returned it.
It is pure white with some green on the side. Very stylish and "green" looking. The back-up battery it came with was almost dead, but luckily there was an indicator for both: rechargeable ones (charged through solar) and regular one.
3 things I didn't like:
* No 90 degree rotation of projection image (objective, but I really needed that)
* To get continuous projection on the ceiling one has to buy the AC adapter (not included). I love having the projection at all times and for me it would make the solar battery a waste as it wouldn't be using it's accumulated energy.
* The numbers are tiny compared to those of my old model
I would recommend this product if you don't mind those aspects. It's definitely not bright to bother at night.

(More customer reviews)For a basic alarm clock, well, it'll do at the price. The green display is so bright it lights up the room. I put tape over it to tone it down. The button to activate or deactivate the alarm is cleverly disguised as just one more of those low-profile buttons that do...What is it they do? Something, I'm sure. I put a bit of tape on top of the button so I can hit it in the morning before my eyes are open. I was sort of hoping to wake up to the radio, but the antenna is such that I can get static really clearly. After a week or so you'll probably realize that there is a button to increase the sound of the alarm bleep... fresh out of the box the volume is so low I hardly knew it was trying to wake me up. In short, it would be more expensive to return it than it is worth.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Maverick R-395 to replace a Oregon Scientific BARM699 Touch-Controlled AM/FM Radio Alarm Clock with Weather, which I found very underwhelming. The Maverick has a constant back light, better radio reception and is much easier to operate. On the negative side, the readout is a little fuzzy, the back light shines through case by the speaker and I think the back light color being based on the outdoor temperature is a little silly. I live in Minnesota, it's going to be blue 8 months out of the year.

It sounds great.
It has cool features like "nap" and adjustable snooze.
It looks good.
The LED clock face is green, not the trendy and very annoyingly bright blue that most new electronics use.
But as another reviewer has already noted, when the alarm goes off and you have it set to radio, it shows the radio station, not the current time! So you roll over groggily to see what time it is, only to be told 97.3.
A few other notes: It knows what time it is because it has a lithium backup battery, not because it's an atomic clock. I assumed from the description it was set by radio frequency.
Also the radio isn't really a digital tuner, it's an analog tuner that displays the station digitally. This is actually better than the digital tuners in this price range. Inexpensive digital tuners are really bad...but cheap analog tuners can be really good.
I'm sending this back....it's very annoying to look at your clock when the alarm goes off and not be told what time it is.
RCA: This model is almost perfect. Maybe next time you'll come up with the perfect one. Keep at it.

RCA RC40R Dual Wake Clock Radio with Large Green LED Display Review

(More customer reviews)I've only had this for a week, but I'm loving it. I bought it for the dual alarms. Super great! I don't have to keep re-setting my alarm! It also came pre-set for time. All I had to do was pick a time zone. Awesome.
Big numbers, with a dimmer feature. Somehow, as big as the numbers are, on the dim setting it's still dimmer than my old one, which was obnoxiously bright in my opinion, so I love that, too. Love that it shows the alarm time, (you press a button to see both and it's easy to find, even in the dark). I'm totally paranoid, so the fact that I can see at a glance that it's set for the correct time is great. Little icons show you if the alarm is activated, too, and whether it's for beeper or radio. The beeper ramps up in volume but I find it starts out loud. I prefer to awaken to radio, anyway. The alarm's not the most intuitive to set, but once you know how, it's easy.
The radio feature uses a dial which could get bumped, (if you're picking up a phone next to it, for example), though I've not had that problem, yet. Same thing for volume. Nice thing about the radio is the digital tuner and the manual says it has some feature to help it hold its setting. You can set it to automatically turn off, (up to 90 minutes).
LOVE THE SNOOZE BUTTON!!! It's right on top and you literally tap it. My old alarm clock had the worst snooze button in the world, (actually, it had the worst everything in the world. It was on of those Sharper Image daylight simulator clocks and it was a total dud). Love, love, love the snooze button. It's really easy to deactivate and reactivate for the next day, as well. Variable snooze increments, as well.
All of this is probably really similar to the features in the RC46, which is offered through Amazon Prime, but I found mine at Walmart for the same price so I picked it up there instead of waiting 2 days.
All in all a very nice product.

(More customer reviews)Trying to find a reliable, easy to use, inexpensive, alarm clock for the wife. She wanted one that sets itself and had a battery back-up. I wanted one that would wake her up. Found this one at K-mart and spent 30 mins playing with it over by the televisions (needed a power source). This radio alarm clock is perfect for what I need. This being my first review, I"ll just point out the things that made me buy it.
1. Nice soft blue color, 2 setting...low you can just make out and high is clearly visible
2. Battery back up (even came with batteries) easy to find AA"s
3. Plug in in and it sets itself (all you have to do is set the time zone) has a switch for Daylight Savings Time.
4. Dual alarm (his and her) or in this case days and midnights...set it and forget it. You don't have to remember to set it everyday.
5. If the power goes out the alarm goes into kind of a sleep mode. It beeps to warn you of the power failure and according to the instructions, remembers the alarm settings and goes off without it being plugged in (not tested yet)
6. The alarm starts off kinda like any other alarm but then gets progressively louder (can't see anyone sleeping through this one)
7. Playing with the tuner, looks like one of those old fashion, spin the dial things, but it shows a digital read on the display (kinda cool but it's a cheap radio folks and sounds like one)
8. The snooze is adjustable from 1 to 30 mins.
9. Last but not least, the alarm set time is displayed on the lower right, so if your the nervous type, you can double check to make sure the alarm is where you want it to be. All for around 20 bucks...and that"s all I have to say about that.....
