(More customer reviews)The clock is, as the other reviewer stated, light and at first feels "flimsy." It's plastic, and a little bigger than a deck of cards; smaller than I was expecting.
The 'ticking' issue is pretty irrelevant I can't hear it in my bed and it's literally fifteen inches from my ear, so it's really a non-issue. The light feature is great, the alarm works well, and the deco-styling is pretty nice for a clock this size. The top solar panel works as the "snooze" / alarm off button, which is handy.
Overall, quite pleased. I hope it holds up.

Equity by La Crosse 65901 Hybrid Solar Analog Alarm ClockStylish and classic, this analog alarm clock not only looks great on the bedside table, but it also enjoys hybrid battery and solar power for energy efficiency. The Equity by La Crosse 65901 alarm clock absorbs light with its top-mounted solar panel to convert into power. By operating off solar power during daylight hours, the clock extends the life of its batteries to upwards of two years. The clock is crafted with sleek, silver plastic casing and features easy-to-read, black numbers on its dial. In dim or dark settings, an on-demand green backlight illuminates the clock dial, and the clock's hour and minute hands glow. A slender silver clock hand ticks off seconds, and another clock hand indicates the set alarm hour. To wake the user more gently, the alarm ascends in volume gradually, and a snooze function is available. The clock requires the separate purchase of two AA alkaline batteries. For optimum efficiency, place the clock in a well-lit environment. The clock measures 4 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches deep by 3-1/2 inches high.
