Emerson CKS1702 SmartSet Alarm Clock Radio Review

Emerson CKS1702 SmartSet Alarm Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This thing is pretty nice because if the power goes out it'll automatically reset to the correct time (either the one set at the factory or the one that you've tweaked, if the factory preset was a bit off). It's not atomic, but it's the next best thing. The radio comes in pretty good too, depending on how you have the antenna positioned (the FM antenna is built into the power cable, and the AM antenna is an iron rod built into the case). It keeps the time when the power is out by way of a small lithium "button" battery. The instructions say that, depending on how long it was on the shelf at the store, the battery could last up to 5 years and that when it does get low a light will flash in the bottom-right corner to alert you. It can even be set to awake you at different times set by you on weekdays or weekends, although the process to do this is a bit convoluted, but if you read the instructions carefully it's easy enough. You can set the alarm to wake you up by way of the radio, or a beeping noise. The beep should awaken even the heaviest of sleepers (after all, it wakes me up). The instructions say that the beeping will rise in volume until you press the alarm button to reset it until the same time next day, or until you press the snooze button to make it sound again in 8 or 9 minutes (can't remember the exact number). Just make sure you don't press the snooze button 7 times or it will NOT sound again until the next day! So keep track of how many times you push the snooze button, get up the first time or risk oversleeping. Overall, this is a very nice, affordable alarm clock. I must also say that the instructions are very informative and easy to understand.

Emerson Radio Jumbo Triple Display Dual Alarm AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet Technology Review

Emerson Radio Jumbo Triple Display Dual Alarm AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet Technology
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My husband and I went through 4 other alarm clocks before we settled on this one. This alarm clock provided everything that was missing in each of our previous alarm clocks. It has a large easy to read from across the room display (but can be dimmed or shut off and then on again w/a wave of the hand), has two separate alarm settings which you can set for weekdays only, weekends only, and weekdays and weekends also w/buzzer,or radio which each of the two alarms can be set to individual preference. Both alarms are displayed constantly underneith the time (which is suprisingly reasuring feature to have) and my husband likes that the alarm shut off button (radio on/off) is a big round button off to the very left side of the alarm which allows him to turn the alarm off every morning without first putting his glasses on and then hunting for the off button. I love it that once you tap the off button, it turns the alarm off for the day and then automatically resets itself to wake me up again the next day. I also have the option to not shut the alarm off and listen to the radio for an hour as I get ready for work, after which time it will shut itself off until the next day again. All in all a very good buy and well worth the money!!

AudioVox RC105 Dual Wake Clock Radio with 0.9-Inch Green Display Review

AudioVox RC105 Dual Wake Clock Radio with 0.9-Inch Green Display
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For a basic alarm clock, well, it'll do at the price. The green display is so bright it lights up the room. I put tape over it to tone it down. The button to activate or deactivate the alarm is cleverly disguised as just one more of those low-profile buttons that do...What is it they do? Something, I'm sure. I put a bit of tape on top of the button so I can hit it in the morning before my eyes are open. I was sort of hoping to wake up to the radio, but the antenna is such that I can get static really clearly. After a week or so you'll probably realize that there is a button to increase the sound of the alarm bleep... fresh out of the box the volume is so low I hardly knew it was trying to wake me up. In short, it would be more expensive to return it than it is worth.

Emerson Smartset Dual Alarm Clock Radio CK 1850 Review

Emerson Smartset Dual Alarm Clock Radio CK 1850
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When my trusty Sony Dream Machine was doused with water, recently, it still functioned well as an alarm clock, but the snooze feature had apparently given up the ghost. I found this clock online and it reviewed fairly well. The features were what i thought I needed and the "Smartset" feature was very appealing as i would never have to reset the clock again.
Unfortunately, right out of the box the time zone setting was incorrect for the stated default Eastern time zone and I had to set it up manually. No big deal i thought and the clock worked very well...
Until this morning when it would refuse to display the time, sound the alarm or even play the radio. All of this after only owning it for 2 weeks. I thought the warranty would be helpful, but at a shipping cost of $9.00, it apparently is another way for Emerson to make money.
i have since taken that $9.00 cost and applied it to the purchase of an updated Sony Dream Machine!

Emerson Dual Alarm Clock Radio Amfm Smartset Review

Emerson Dual Alarm Clock Radio Amfm Smartset
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a fantastic alarm. I love the quiet wake feature which starts at a whisper and increases the decibels until you stop it. My family perhaps loves this feature even more than I do because I tend to snooze for an hour or so if I can get away with it. I like the auto-set feature and wish my other clocks could have that too.
It has two alarms so I can set it different on the weekends. The radio is not very good, but I didn't plan to use it much anyway.
You DO have to be careful if you plan to snooze not to accidentally hit the off button. It's a little too easy to do that!

Emerson CKS3029 - Clock radio Review

Emerson CKS3029 - Clock radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Living in hurricane territory, I definitely wanted some clocks that would function with or without the help of Florida Light and Power and that I would not have to reset whenever I experience a momentary loss of power. Three Emerson Smartsets made us a very happy household for almost two years now, until this morning. I went over to Brookstone where I know they sell these clocks to complain that my clock did not Spring forward. They handed me a sheet explaining how to manually update my clock (something I will need to do 4 times a year for my clocks purchased pre Marc 2006). Here's how you do it for anyone frustrated as I was:
1. On the second Sunday in March, set your clock to the next lowest number time zone (for example, if you live in the Eastern Time zone, Zone 02, you will change your clock to Zone 01 to move it ahead by one hour)
2. On the first Sunday in April, when the clock will automatically advance itself by one hour for whatever time zone you are in. You will then need to set the clock back to your correct time zone (Zone 02 if you are in the Eastern time Zone)
3. On the last Sunday in October, you would again set your clock to the next lower numbered time zone (Zone 01 if you are in the Eastern time zone). Your clock was not originally set to change times on this date.
4. On the first Sunday in November, the date your clock has been preprogrammed to fall back, you would again set your clock back to your correct time zone (Zone 02 if you are in the Eastern time zone).
Really this is a circumstance beyond Emerson's control, but I am starting to think that what Emerson needs to do is bring this smartset technology to an actual Atomic clock and then the government can change daylight savings time start and end dates as many times as they want, without Emerson consumers ever experiencing any problems. Until then, I hope this has helped someone who like me scoured the Internet for information on how to change the time on these not-so-smartsets after all.

TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock Review

TimeSmart Self-Setting Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I saw it in Brookstone a few days ago and was totally sold on the idea of "self-setting". Well, that's actually not very true.
Pros:
Large display with adjustable levels. The blue display also looks a lot better than the usual green or red.
The alarms are easy to use.
It "should" be able to automatically adjust for Daylight Savings Time.
Cons:
Brookstone is intentionally vague about what they mean by "self-setting". No, it doesn't connect to the US atomic clock as some reviewers say. It was merely pre-set in the factory, and sustained by the battery. If you look at their manual ([...]) you will understand why: if you "reset" the clock, it won't reset to the current time. I didn't realize this until I was trying out the features and inadvertently changed the original clock. I thought by "resetting" the clock it will adjust back automatically. Nope. This was the feature that I thought was worth the price tag, but now I just feel cheated. The clock does use a battery (pre-installed). So it is not really "self-setting".
While it stores the day/month/year info, there is no way to show them on the clock screen.
And, it's a lot easier and more tempting to turn of the alarms than snoozing: the button to turn it off is a lot taller than the snooze button.
Overall, it's not a bad one even if it is not really automatic. I just wish they were more straightforward about what it really is.

2" Auto Set Alarm Clock Review

2 Auto Set Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The overall appearance of this clock is very good. The display is easy to see, however, you can not dim the display sufficiently to satisfy those who find the intense light disturbing to their sleep.
The real problem is the alarm. It is not loud enough to wake me, it starts off very faint, and stays there. Does not gain in intensity, and shuts off too soon.
This may be a manufacturing problem, but I did not return it, because the shipping costs would make the total cost of the clock too high. I purchased a Brookstone through Amazon, which is easier to operate, and the alarm is loud enough to wake me, with its increasing intensity. Also has high customer ratings.
I can't recommend this product.

Emerson CKS3088T SmartSet Dual-Alarm Clock Radio with 4-Way Lamp Control Review

Emerson CKS3088T SmartSet Dual-Alarm Clock Radio with 4-Way Lamp Control
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Huge problem with this design is the motion sensor idea. For this product it has 2 functions/uses, both of which are a terrible idea. First, you can set the clock light to High, Dim, or Motion/Off (not the exact name of this setting). The motion/off is so that after 10 seconds, the light goes off completely. If it detects motion, the light comes on. So the theory is that if you wake up in the middle of the night, you can just wave your hand in front of the clock and see the time. Not a bad idea at first thought. Except...it's a clock/radio designed to sit on your night stand right next to your bed!!! Everytime you move or roll over, the light comes ON (and in "high" mode...not dim mode). Strike One against this time.
Second function of the motion sensor is so you don't have to press a snooze button...you can just wave your hand instead. So now when your alarm goes off, if you just barely move...poof, sleep mode. And the sleep mode is like 10 minutes long! The manual specifically says it only does this when the "alarm" (buzzer) mode is used but that's not true at all. It does it even if you set the alarm to radio mode. Makes me wonder why they even bother to put a sleep button the radio. You can't use it because if you start to reach to hit the button, the motion detector puts it into sleep mode anyway. Strike two. Motion sensor...terrible idea for a product that sits right next to your bed.
The final strike is the touch-sensor you can plug your lamp into so you can just touch the pad on top of the clock to turn your light on/off. So now while you're fumbling around in the dark trying to your alarm off most of the time you end up hitting the light button and turn the lights on...which, if you have a 'significant other' that doesn't get up at the same time, is NOT a good thing. Especially a S.O. that is grumpy in the a.m. to start with. :-) Strike three for this product. I've had it 3 days and it's got to go...returning back to Amazon tomorrow (if I don't oversleep because I barely moved and put my alarm into sleep mode again)

Emerson CKS9051 SmartSet Dual Alarm Clock Radio Review

Emerson CKS9051 SmartSet Dual Alarm Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After days of researching, I finally found the best alarm clock for me and my wife! We are so happy with what we found.
I can't say anything bad about this alarm clock, it got everything we are looking for:
- Weekday\weekend\everyday alarms function for each of its 2 alarm. We set up alarm 1 @ 6a.m. on weekdays (for me), alarm 2 @ 7:30a.m. (for her) on weekdays, therefore no alarm on the weekend. We don't have to wake up by the alarm clock Sat. @ 6a.m ever again.
- Individual setting for each alarm wake up to a gradual buzz or radio.
- The clock has a high/low light setting. If you think the display is too bright, set it to low.
- The display is very clear, showing time and day of week.
- The radio is very clear compare to our existing radio alarm clock.
- The most amazing thing is that the clock will reset itself to the correct time in the event of a power outage. The alarm will preserve the alarms' settings. So in case of a power outage in the middle of the night, when the power comes back on, your alarm clock will continue to function as before. What a great idea! You don't have to manually reset it again, and worse, miss you morning alarm.
These are other alarm clocks that I looked at:
Made by Emerson also. I was going to get this one, but I tried it at a store and it can tip forward as you reach in from hitting the snooze button. Also, some of the button are small. CKS 9051's design is much more stable\sturdy.
Emerson Radio Jumbo Triple Display Dual Alarm AM/FM Clock Radio with SmartSet Technology
Too expensive.
Sangean RCR-22 AM/FM Atomic Clock Radio
Too small, for travle maybe.
RiteAlarm Triple Weekly Alarm Clock (R) for Weekdays, Saturday and Sunday, Automatic Extended Daylight Saving Time, Automatic Snooze, Adjustable Volume, Gentle Sound Pattern, Simple Buttons, Pushing Backlight and Battery Operated
This could work, but we prefer larger display and not background lit ones.
Timex Nano Color
Could work but couldn't find it at a store (Target\Sears) to try. Dispay might be too small.
Sony ICFC180 AM/FM Clock Radio
Might work but don't like the dial, display too small. A little expensive.
American Innovative Neverlate 7-Day Alarm Clock
Hope this help.

Timex T123 Simple Set Direct Entry Alarm Clock (Silver) Review

Timex T123 Simple Set Direct Entry Alarm Clock (Silver)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
UPDATED review: This is not a clock radio, it is a pure non-repeating alarm clock, with one alarm for those who like to keep it simple. It has two levels of a chirping alarm, which increases in frequency if you don't hit the 'alarm off' button. You can throw away the instructions as it is easy to set. One morning after about 3 1/2 months, however, it died, no time display, nothing, Kaput! Which gives it the one star rating!

I have a similar alarm clock from Equity that I got at CVS a few years ago which has a few more features so I decided to try this model. Really..how can you beat this price ??
The clock is easy to set and use. I would like a hi/low dimmer setting but it's no big deal. The alarm IS loud but that's fine. It's really easy to turn on and off. Some clocks, in fact the one this replaced, have tiny on/off switches/buttons to turn the alarm on and off.. My husband kept thinking he had turned the alarm off - before it beeped - when in fact he had not. I got tired of being awakened so early at least once a week so I searched for a model that had an easy and large turnoff button. This one fits the bill.. You really can't go wrong. I received the clock really fast too.

Start the day on time with the help of this basic alarm clock. From Equity by La Crosse, the digital alarm clock features white plastic casing with silver function buttons on top. The clock displays the time in .7-inch high red LED digits. To distinguish between morning and evening hours, a PM indicator light is provided. Another indicator light denotes whether or not the alarm is on. For reluctant risers, the clock offers a repeating 9-minute snooze function to silence the alarm. The clock plugs in to any grounded outlet to run on AC power. In the event of a power outage or relocation, the clock takes one separately purchased 9-volt battery for power back-up. The clock measures 5 inches wide by 3 inches deep by 2-1/2 inches high.

I got this clock-radio today and I'm very pleased with it. The radio works well, sounding good, and everything else about this alarm-clock/radio is very well thought-out and designed, including button placements and sizes. It really does the job, and its big display and accurate timekeeping is most welcome.
It knew the day, month, year, and exact time, accurate to the minute, when I plugged it in for the first time. WOW!
It's factory-initialized for Eastern Standard Time and Daylight-Savings Time, which you can easily change manually if needed.
