Oregon Scientific Rm313pa Exactset Fixed Projection Alarm Clock Review

Oregon Scientific Rm313pa Exactset Fixed Projection Alarm Clock

Most of my life I've had early shifts for my occupation (i.e. being into work at 6:00 am or earlier). I used to have a clock that didn't have a battery backup nor did it keep the correct time. I saw this model clock that had both plus the time projection on the ceiling so my wife didn't have to try to roll me over to see the clock, so I decided to give it a try. The clock looks a bit futuristic, but that is its function. The exact time feature is great. I set the houses clocks to it whenever the power goes out, which is regularly (where in a rural town). The battery backup is another great feature that I've never had prior to this. The only drawbacks that I have with the clock is that in order to project the time on the ceiling so that you can read it on a decent angle, is to turn the clock so that you can't the time on its face. You either get to see the one on the ceiling or you get the face of the clock, not both. Another drawback is the buttons on the clock don't make much sense when you need to program the alarm. Once you know the buttons to push, its easy, but they aren't marked well. Hope this review is helpful for you.

Tivoli Audio Model Three AM/FM Clock Radio, Cherry/Metallic Taupe Review

Tivoli Audio Model Three AM/FM Clock Radio, Cherry/Metallic Taupe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased the unit for it's renowned tuner but also for a replacement of my clock radio. The tuner is everything as claimed and nearly as good as a very high end tuner I currently own. The sound quality is also much better than expected. Where this unit falls apart is with the sleep functions. I could not get the snooze function to work as the radio would never come back on. An email to Tivoli revealed that the snooze must be activated within 120 seconds or it simply turns the radio off. This information was NOT in the manual! I know I'm not counting down from 120 seconds the moment the alarm awakes me from a soind sleep... Poor design. I've also discovered that the clock runs from the single AA battery at all times. It should run from the AC and only rely on the battery for back up. Another poorly thought out design. The two most important sleep functions are an afterthought and in my opinion not worth the cost or questionable functionality. If one were to add a second speaker the total would be $250 or $100 more than a model Two. That $100 only gets you a cheap battery operated clock and useless snooze function. Instead, spend your money on the model Two, the $80 sub and a wall timer. That's what I'm doing... You'll have a better system and save a few dollars as well!

You don't need a degree in rocket science to operate the Tivoli Audio Model Three Clock Radio. Like other Tivoli Audio products, the Model Three is simple to use, so you won't lose sleep wondering if you'll wake up. It includes a 20-minute sleep timer, a snooze button, and a sleek aluminum thumbwheel to set the alarm time, with the option to wake to a buzzer or its great sounding AM/FM radio. The analog clock's fine quartz mechanical movement provides accurate time keeping and compliments the analog tuning dial. The constant gentle illumination makes the clock face visible in low or no light without keeping you awake. Its handsome cherry wood exterior houses a rather high-tech interior. The Model Three uses a Henry Kloss designed tuner with cell phone technology for better FM reception and increased clarity on closely spaced stations, a 5:1 ratio analog tuning dial, and a plethora of inputs and outputs including Stereo Headphone and Record output, stereo auxiliary input, built in AM/FM antennas, a 75 ohm connection for an external FM antenna and a 12 V power input for use in areas without AC power. You can add the optional matching Tivoli Audio Stereo Speaker or Dual Alarm Speaker for stereo sound, or for a complete sound system, add the optional matching Model Subwoofer and Model CD.

Philips AJ3600 Time Projection Clock Radio Review

Philips AJ3600 Time Projection Clock Radio
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I just received this clock yesterday and have already fallen in love!
To avoid hitting the snooze or reset button(s) and never waking up, I keep my alarm clock across the room from my bed. This way I wake up enough to get out of bed and walk across the room before I hit any buttons. As my eyes are getting older it has become increasingly more difficult to focus on the clock when I wake up in the middle of the night.
When I decided that a projection clock would solve my problem of focusing on the clock in the middle of the night, I started to look around for one and I was not pleased with what was out there. I did not need nature sounds, nor did I need a light to turn on as part of the alarm. I do not have an MP3 player to dock into my clock, and I do not need a complete weather report when I open my eyes (LOL, I will find that out soon enough when I shlep out of bed and let the dogs outside!). I do not need to know what time the alarm is set (I just like to be reassured that it is on), and I am perfectly capable of pressing a few buttons to set the time all by myslef.
This little guy projects the time and whether or not the alarm is on...the two things that I am most interested in when I open my eyes in the middle of the night. The projection can be moved 180 degrees and the further away you project the time, the larger it is. It has an adjustable backlight on the face so it is not too bright. It has an AM/FM radio with ten station presets, and when the alarm is set to chime instead of the radio, it starts gentle so as not to jar you awake. It does have two alarms, but instead of having a choice of alarm types (chime or radio) Alarm 1 uses the radio and Alarm 2 uses the chime. The chime is a little bit quieter than I am used to, but it woke me up just fine this morning.
So far (after one night) I love this clock, it's a great price, and I would defiantly recommend it!

We got this for our son for Christmas. Very poorly made, cheap materials. Takes a PhD to figure out how to turn the alarm clock off (after several nights of it going off, it went into the trash can). No backlight, so no value at night. Skip on this one!

Timex T309T Alarm Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Titanium) Review

Timex T309T Alarm Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Titanium)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a nice little item. It has good sound quality and three types of alarm: radio, buzzer, and nature sounds (there are 3 or 4 of these to choose from). You can specify whether an alarm setting works every day, only on weekdays, or only on weekends. Each alarm setting has its own radio station or nature sound (and volume) associated with it. It's got a nice big snooze button on top, which doubles as a display dimmer (my favorite feature).
I've come across just a couple disappointments in the week that I've had it.
- I thought I'd be able to create a radio-alarm setting for weekdays and another radio-alarm setting (same time, but different station) for weekends. Can't do it. You get one setting for each type of alarm.
- The radio preset buttons are arranged in a line across the front of the unit. The band setting button is in that line too, to its left. So if you want preset #1, you've got to punch the second button. Hitting the first button switches you to AM.
All in all, though, it's worth the [money].

The Timex T309TT triple-alarm clock radio lets you wake to your choice of AM/FM radio, buzzer, or any of four nature sounds (wind, brook, surf, and forest spring). Yes, you read correctly: the triple-alarm system lets you set three independent alarm times and wake sounds.Even if you're waking alone, you might want to set the device to trigger, say, soothing nature sounds at 7 a.m., a gentle radio station at 7:15, and a blaring buzzer at 7:30 just in case your heinie is still in the sack when it ought to be in the shower. Use the convenient 7-5-2 system to set your alarm(s) for the week, weekdays, or the weekend.Store up to 18 radio stations in memory, accessible through six one-touch tuning buttons. The radio offers drift-free PLL (phase-locked loop) digital tuning and displays station frequency and preset numbers.Time to crash? Drift into sleep to the radio or soothing nature sounds using the programmable sleep timer. The unit also offers a 99-year calendar (2000 to 2099) with year/month/day display and a sure-alarm battery backup system.

jWIN JL707 Projection Alarm Clock Radio Review

jWIN JL707 Projection Alarm Clock Radio

I bought this clock for my daughter after I had received a different projection clock as a gift. My daughter really likes the on-ceiling display of the clock. The only drawbacks: the projection device does not swivel left and right. That would help in positioning the on-ceiling display a little better. Also, you must set the projection clock separate from the regular clock-radio clock. Other than that, I would recommend.

AM99 Electronic English Chinese Talking Dictionary for Learning Chinese Review

AM99 Electronic English Chinese Talking Dictionary for Learning Chinese
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this to replace the heavy pocket dictionary I usually carry around in my purse as I gallivant around China. As I am now at an intermediate learning level in Chinese, my checklist of important features might be different from that of other buyers.
Lightweight: check. It's still a noticable weight in my purse, but it's a relief from the thick pocket dictionary.
Sufficient dictionary size: check. I have already used this to look up hundreds of words and phrases, usually checking how it compares to my pocket dictionary. So far it has had almost every word I've looked for. As for phrases, it has some that my pocket dictionary doesn't have, but lacks others that the book does include. Overall, I'm satisfied with the number of entries.
Able to look up Chinese characters: check. If I see a character on the street that I really want to learn, I can use radicals to look it up. It's not easy, but it works the same way as standard dictionaries. BUT, the frustrating thing is this: when I look up a character, it doesn't tell me the pinyin. I can press the audio button to listen to its pronunciation, but the voice is somewhat muffled and difficult to understand. I often have to guess what the real pronunciation is and double check by looking up the character using pinyin. Also, there is another problem I didn't even consider. If I hear someone say "Jia(1) you(2)!" and try to look it up, I can't just enter the pinyin and hope to find a matching word or phrase. First I must enter "jia" and find the correct character. After I have the first character, I can then type in "you" and easily find the phrase. But if I only heard someone say the phrase on the street, I probably don't know what characters it's made up of. This makes it impossible to look up the phrase.
User friendly: fairly good. My biggest complaint is the inability to turn off all sounds. When searching for a character using pinyin, dictionary pronounces each part of the word I enter (quite loudly). Besides slowing things down and being almost pointless, it's impossible to turn off. I went to settings and turned off both "Music" and "KeySnd" sounds AND turned volume to zero, but the annoying voice was still audible. If I want to use this in class, I'll have to also plug in the earphones.
After using this dictionary for a few weeks, I think it's obvious that it was designed with Chinese speakers learning English in mind. As an example, you can't find "New York" or even "China" in the English-->Chinese dictionary, but look up the Chinese words and you'll find the English translation. However, it's still usable for English speakers and is the cheapest electronic dictionary I've found. It also came with ear buds and a soft black protective case. That was a nice surprise.
I would recommend this product, but be aware of the drawbacks.

GPX C280 AM/FM Sunrise Clock Radio (Multi-Color) Review

GPX C280 AM/FM Sunrise Clock Radio (Multi-Color)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like waking with the sun, but in the winter, the sun comes long after I have to get up. I've thought about a sunrise clock for a while, but I can't bring myself to pay $100 for one. This one was affordable, so I purchased it and crossed my fingers. It has been fantastic.
The light does come on relatively quickly-- over the course of a few seconds, but it definitely helps with waking me. The light is a bit on the bluish end of the spectrum as opposed to a "warm sunrise" but it gets the job done well. The radio ramps up the sound so I no longer feel like I'm jolted out of bed. It has surprisingly good reception and really good sound for the price.
It took me a while to figure out how to program it (I didn't read the instructions), but it was quite doable.
I highly recommend this.

I bought this at a department store and that should have been my first clue that it would not be the greatest in quality. I should have just gone to a store that only sells electronics, but now I am stuck with this piece of junk. Don't do what I did!! The radio NEVER picks up any of the stations I used to get on my other radio, which I am now having to use again. My cds constantly skipped, and forget about playing a burned cd, that will never happen. It's just junk, that's all. Don't waste your time or energy.
