Finger Drums Review

Finger Drums
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Wife got me these as a gag gift, and they are fun for a few minutes. Our 3 year old likes them, too. But forget about trying to do any real beats with this, the drums can't keep up with real time input and maintain a beat, and hitting any drum (just about) also makes the cymbal go off constantly.
Enjoyable for a few minutes (if you're an adult), and a bit longer (if you're a preschooler).

Tocky Rolling Alarm Clock Review

Tocky Rolling Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
- The first time your partner runs around the house chasing Tocky down to turn it off, you'll be awake laughing hard.
- I like that you can use your own MP3 music.
Cons:
- Tocky is about baseball sized, which is just too small for a lot of reasons (that follow)
- The physical button and touchwheel/touchwheel button are very close together, making it extremely easy to hit the wrong thing. This has been our biggest problem with Tocky. We have inadvertently changed the current time, turned off the daily alarm, routinely hit snooze instead of off.. just because the interface has so few buttons that you really need to pay attention to what you're doing - good luck with that when you're half asleep. These flaws have basically meant that I always have to set a backup alarm, which completely defeats the point. I miss my old big clunker alarm clocks with distinct switches/buttons for everything.
- The LCD backlight is very dim, and only comes on when you press a button. The way Tocky sits and with the rubber cover, you won't be able to see the time standing up if it's on a normal dresser- or nightstand-height surface and you're standing. Plus, the time display is small so you need to pick it up to see it anyway.
- The rubber sleeve seems necessary to protect Tocky and to press the physical button, but it's difficult to get on and off (necessary each time you change the batteries), and needs to be in just the right position to press the button, access the USB port, etc.
- If you leave the rolling on (Tocky's main feature, right?), the batteries run down very quickly. Apparently there's something called "protection mode" (see [...] ) that kicks in when the battery is low, and this caused the alarm to stop functioning without any warning. Um, thanks, Tocky? Good thing I'd set a backup alarm.
- I want to be able to program Tocky to have the alarm go off certain days (M-F) but not others (Sa/Su). This seems like an obvious software feature but you have to either set the alarm to go off or not, no scheduling. With normal alarm clocks this is fine, with Tocky you have to page through so many menus and hold in the touchwheel button for a few seconds and it just takes too long.
- I wish the snooze could be set to longer than 9 minutes.
The minimalist interface design seems good in theory, but sorry, it doesn't work for an alarm clock.

InsigniaTM - Clock Radio with Voice Commands NS-CLVR01 Review

InsigniaTM - Clock Radio with Voice Commands NS-CLVR01
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's worth buying only at the low price it's recenly been offered at.
Allows MP3 line in - but volume is too quiet and clips if you turn your mp3 player up too much
2 full range speakers are good - but not stereo and don't have enough high range. Or I am going deaf.
Voice command is bad and gets in the way but can be turned off - though if you press SNOOZE for too short a time, you get a loud voice saying WHAT CAN I DO FOR YOU.
FM tuner is better than on my better brand clock radios and is separate from power wire.
AC adapter is plug in, like on most computer equipment these days, not like on most clock radios. It thus runs on 9v dc.
I find the various brightnesses of the LCD screen all wrong - very bright, too bright, off. Give me LED again like in the 1980s.
Power button requires a second or two to respond - it's trying hard to be an input selector too. Case is solid though buttons are not responsive.
In short it's a picture of contemporary design and manufacturing of a store brand product made in China or east Asia. Give companies like Insignia a few more years and they'll probably have a very good product. For now, Sony and the name brands are learning how to manufacturer cheaply but design for user experience better.
Buy if for what lunch at work costs or less...
Good luck!

very cute, loud enough, works well, only problem is the sinlge button used to control the entire alarm is pushed by a piece of silicon on the cover, and our doesn't' fit right...so we have to use a small object like a bobby pin or pencil tip to turn the alarm on/off

Seiko Desk And Table Clock Wooden Case With Thermometer & Hygrometer Review

Seiko Desk And Table Clock Wooden Case With Thermometer and Hygrometer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The clock is housed in a high quality black wood casing, black in color with nice texture. what i like about it was the stainless steel material used for the analogue faces. the lines were nice and clean, not complicated and did not show a clutter of the readout.
I had planned to use this to be next to my humidors, i brought it to the office and decided it was a nice centrepiece to have, the cigars will have to wait.

Insignia Dual Alarm Clock Radio with Photo Display Black NS-DPFC01 Review

Insignia Dual Alarm Clock Radio with Photo Display Black NS-DPFC01
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is a combo of a clock radio + digital photo frame.
Imagine electric alarm clock, with two alarm settings and FM tuner; with a power adapter and a coin battery backup as not to lose settings during power outage.
Now slap on top of that a small digital photo frame (3.5" diagonal, 320x240 - the size of a regular GPS), with a remote control, memory card slot and USB connections (one for thumb drive and one for connection to PC to upload photos if need be).
And there you have it - the result is Insignia NS-DPFC01 Clock Radio w/ Photo Display

Timex T117L Travel Alarm Clock with Flashlight (Blue) Review

Timex T117L Travel Alarm Clock with Flashlight (Blue)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
***Purchased from Dailysteals for $15, not Amazon***
For $15 I guess I can't complain too much. Some of the biggest complaints are that:
1. The flashlight is more a single LED torch, which really doesn't brighten much. I guess that wouldn't be so bad after just waking up as an extremely bright light would blind you.
2. The viewing angle on this thing is horrendous, you literally have to be at a specific angle to view the clock clearly. This really shouldn't ever be an issue when it comes to a clock... but it is here.
3. In my opinion the alarm is not nearly loud enough. Unfortunately I am a deep sleeper, and these little electronic beeps will never wake me up. Would it have been so hard to add an FM tuner and a volume control?
I don't feel that using the Indiglo and not being able to set the alarm at the same time is an issue, just set your alarm before you turn the lights out, it's not that hard. Anyway, the thing is pretty stylish and does exactly what it says it will do: display time in the day and night, an alarm, and a flashlight. If you're not looking for much more than that, this'll work.

Velocity Micro T301 Cruz 7-Inch Android 2.0 Tablet (Black) Review

Velocity Micro T301 Cruz 7-Inch Android 2.0 Tablet (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If you want an Android tablet running the latest version, able to play all the latest apps and flash video, don't buy this tablet. If you want an Android tablet you can root or upgrade, don't bother, you will not be happy. If you want it to be an Ipad, forget about it.
However, if you want a $250 color e-reader that has a stable OS, long battery life, and a seven inch 800x600 touchscreen you will be pleased. You will be more pleased with the capability to surf the internet, check e-mail and load simple apps. The Cruz comes preloaded with the Kindle reader and most other e-readers can be downloaded from freewarelovers.com. The screen size, the rubber back, touch screen, wifi, and all day battery life make this an excellent e-reader that compares well with the Nook color. The new version of the Android Kindle app (which can be downloaded from freewarelovers.com) also allows you to download magazines in color.
As an e-reader with expanded capabilities the Cruz is a great product and I am very pleased with it. Out of the box, the software is very stable, the battery is 75% charged and the Kindle app is ready to go. As a cutting edge Galaxy or Ipad competitor, the Cruz falls short, but it is much cheaper than those devices. I describe the Cruz to my friends as a Kindle version of the Nook Color. A "Kindle Color" is the best way to describe it.
I have loaded my Cruz with the following apps, all obtained from freewarelovers.com or the web, and they all work well: Kindle, Overdrive Media Console (for library e-books), Kobo Reader, Aldiko Reader, Wapedia, Newspapers, Reuters, Iheartradio, Skyfire browser and Dolphin browser.

100th GM Anniversary Wall Clock Review

100th GM Anniversary Wall Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Every hour, this cool clock makes the vroom-vroom sounds (and sometimes the horn) of a different classic car. The back has informational blurbs on each car depicted. We bought this for my brother-in-law, who builds classic cars, but you don't have to be a car buff to LOVE THIS CLOCK! It's bigger and more beautiful than it looks in the picture. At that price, it's Grand Theft Auto. If you're looking for a great gift, buy two: one as a gift; one for yourself! Even though there's an on/off switch for the car sounds, it also has a light sensor, so it will NOT go off if the room is dark or if it's wrapped. I'd give it 6 stars if I could!
