Clocky Alarm Clock On Wheels Review

Clocky Alarm Clock On Wheels
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
If ever there was a product that cried out for an Amazon video review, it's Clocky. This thing is so much fun to play with. It sounds like R2 D2 from Star Wars, and after the first time you hit the snooze alarm it jumps off the table or nightstand and runs around the room a beepin' and a flashin'. You can see it works pretty well on the carpeting and it moves even faster on our tile floors. It can jump down from up to 3 feet without killing itself which is more than you need for most nightstands. I don't know if you can see from the video, but it's made pretty well and seems sturdy.
I bought it for my sister who thinks it's cute during the day but doesn't like chasing it in the morning. I tried to capture her on video, chasing clock in a real live morning situation, but her words were "unkind" and not suitable for an Amazon review.
This makes a cute gift for the person who has everything but likes to sleep. I hope this video gives you a better idea of how cute this thing is. (Sorry for all the jiggling around. I really have to get a camera with some kind of stabilization feature).

What if R2 D2's only obligation was to chirp incessantly at sleepy Jedi warriors first thing in the morning, while zipping around the bedroom? Certainly, Luke Skywalker would never sleep through a light saber combat training session with Yoda or miss out on a breakfast date with Chewbacca. For anyone who is prone to chronic snooze tag, Nanda Home Inc. created Clocky, their vocal, spastic alarm clock on wheels. Clocky hops off the nightstand and then runs this way and that, all the while beeping with an unpredictable cadence and flashing the backlight on his display screen. With his relentlessly annoying antics, Clocky is effective at motivating even the groggiest sleeper out of bed to hunt him down and put an end to his prattle.
Clocky features a user-friendly interface to set the time and the alarm. For those who prefer a warning before Clocky gets moving, the clock provides a one-time snooze function, customizable from zero to 9 minutes in duration. Likewise, users who prefer not to chase their alarm clock can turn off the wheel function. The display screen includes a PM indicator light and a low battery notification icon, as well as wheels and alarm icons to signify that these functions are on. To ensure safe jumping, place Clocky facing forward on the edge of a 3-foot high or shorter nightstand and clear the landing area of any objects that he might fall on. Clocky is not designed to maneuver shag carpeting. For operation, Clocky requires the separate purchase and installation of four AAA batteries. Clocky comes in several colors, including this almond white. A limited 90-day warranty covers this item. The clock measures 5-1/4 inches wide by 3-1/2 inches deep by 3-1/2 inches high.

Tocky Rolling Alarm Clock Review

Tocky Rolling Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros:
- The first time your partner runs around the house chasing Tocky down to turn it off, you'll be awake laughing hard.
- I like that you can use your own MP3 music.
Cons:
- Tocky is about baseball sized, which is just too small for a lot of reasons (that follow)
- The physical button and touchwheel/touchwheel button are very close together, making it extremely easy to hit the wrong thing. This has been our biggest problem with Tocky. We have inadvertently changed the current time, turned off the daily alarm, routinely hit snooze instead of off.. just because the interface has so few buttons that you really need to pay attention to what you're doing - good luck with that when you're half asleep. These flaws have basically meant that I always have to set a backup alarm, which completely defeats the point. I miss my old big clunker alarm clocks with distinct switches/buttons for everything.
- The LCD backlight is very dim, and only comes on when you press a button. The way Tocky sits and with the rubber cover, you won't be able to see the time standing up if it's on a normal dresser- or nightstand-height surface and you're standing. Plus, the time display is small so you need to pick it up to see it anyway.
- The rubber sleeve seems necessary to protect Tocky and to press the physical button, but it's difficult to get on and off (necessary each time you change the batteries), and needs to be in just the right position to press the button, access the USB port, etc.
- If you leave the rolling on (Tocky's main feature, right?), the batteries run down very quickly. Apparently there's something called "protection mode" (see [...] ) that kicks in when the battery is low, and this caused the alarm to stop functioning without any warning. Um, thanks, Tocky? Good thing I'd set a backup alarm.
- I want to be able to program Tocky to have the alarm go off certain days (M-F) but not others (Sa/Su). This seems like an obvious software feature but you have to either set the alarm to go off or not, no scheduling. With normal alarm clocks this is fine, with Tocky you have to page through so many menus and hold in the touchwheel button for a few seconds and it just takes too long.
- I wish the snooze could be set to longer than 9 minutes.
The minimalist interface design seems good in theory, but sorry, it doesn't work for an alarm clock.

American Innovative Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock Review

American Innovative Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I generally only review a product if it's really bad, really good, or as in this case, a very good product with lots of room for improvement to make it even better. I've only owned and been using this product for a few days, so this is a preliminary review, but so far I have noticed a lot of both good and bad with it.
First, there are several features of this clock, some that are less prominent and therefore not mentioned in the description or anywhere else. These are as follows:
-When setting alarms, it starts at 7am. This is great, because you don't have to sit there forever on each alarm changing it from midnight to whatever time you get up in the morning. Most people get up around 7-8, not midnight. I can't believe this isn't more common in alarm clocks, and it's one of many things that shows the ingenuity of the designers.
-Set and preference buttons need to be held for a couple seconds before they bring up the menu, avoiding accidental menu access by merely pressing the wrong button.
-Great sound. I was expecting sound superior to normal clock radios, but I was really impressed. It definitely surpassed my expectations and then some.
-Small (smaller than I thought it would be) and looks great, with great layout for the most part.
-Excellent snooze button size and location. (could be seen as a con by some people I suppose)
-Remembers nap/sleep timers for quick one touch setting
-Alarm duration setting, nice so alarm can be set to only go off for a short period of time, just in case you leave it on when you leave and it will disturb others when it goes off.
-Gradual wake feature.
-Alarm volume independent from sleep volume.
-Four different alarm sounds.
-Descending snooze makes it so every time you hit the snooze button you get less time before the alarm sounds again. Once again, I can't believe this isn't a more common feature, but this is the first clock I've seen it on.
Now for the negative points. Some of these are pretty severe, at least in my mind, whereas others are really quit minor and even perhaps a little nitpicky. However, I believe a product can always be made better, and I hope that by pointing these things out American Innovations will be encouraged to take them into consideration for an improved model. Also, for a product with such obvious creativity and ingenuity involved in its design, the fact that some of these negative items even exist is just that much more baffling and upsetting. Also, I feel the consumer should be as informed as possible when making a decision, so hopefully this will help people considering this clock. Here are my issues with this alarm clock:
-Value collar (outer ring) should spin more freely. It's whole purpose in life is to quickly advance the time backward or forward to set the clock or alarm, and this is done by spinning or rotating it. For this purpose, I feel it is way too stiff, and that detracts from its functionality.
-Minimum volume should be lower. It's pretty quiet, but I have absolutely no doubt there are people that like to listen to very quiet music when they're going to sleep, quieter than this will go down to, and there should be more options on the low end of the scale to account for that. I realize that is a problem with digitally controlling the volume instead of using an anolog dial with infinite positions, but they could, and should, certainly implement a few more volume steps between their current minimum volume and no volume.
-The volume buttons are backwards from any sort of common sense arrangement. Seriously, who puts the volume up on the left and the volume down on the right. It's just counter-intuitive.
-I'd prefer the use of a couple AA or AAA batteries instead of the 3.0V CR2032 button-type battery that's used for the backup functions. They are everywhere, people are a lot more likely to have spares of them lying around the house than CR2032s, and they can be rechargable.
-More color choices would be nice. The white and gray don't really fit into the colors of the rest of the room. I personally prefer the colors of the standard version of the clock, I don't know why the options are so limited here, or why they chose to go with this color for this model instead of the same color scheme they have on the other.
-Easy to accidentally (or subconsiously) hit the on/off button instead of the snooze button, killing the alarm completely instead of snoozing it.
-No alarm preview function. In order to hear the different alarms to know which to use, I had to set nap timer to 1 minute, wait for it to alarm, switch alarm sounds, and repeat until I heard all four.
-Lowest brightness for display not dim enough. This goes hand in hand with the lowest volume not low enough problem.
-No preference for how long the display stays on high brightness after pressing a button.
-Alarm volumes and lengths can't be set independently from one another.
-Beta feature for making one time change doesn't allow changing of multiple banks, or at least I haven't figured out how yet if you can.
All in all, this is a very nice alarm clock, and it's so convenient to not have to switch the alarms back and forth every day, since I have class at 9 MWF and 8 on T & Th, plus I like to have one for the weekends just so I don't sleep until the afternoon. Even with the flaws and areas of needed improvement, it's still a big step up. I just wish the creativity had extended more to some of these other things, as well as other things I probably haven't thought of. I would so far recommend it based off its functionality and the specific need it caters to, but as I said, I've only had it a few days, so it's still too early to tell. So far, I haven't noticed any glitch or bug issues with it.
EDIT: I have now owned this alarm clock for a little over 3 months and just wanted to make a quick update. This clock got me through a semester of late nights and early mornings excellently, and it is still running strong (knock on wood). I haven't really found anything new I like or dislike about it, it's performing exactly as I'd hoped and I'm really glad I got it. As I said before, it has its problems, but they are minor for the most part and do not overcome the usefulness of the clock. The only new thing I have to mention is when turning the two dials, or even when they're in position but pressed lightly, the display sort of spazzes out, for lack of a better term, and jumps all over like you're spinning the dial rapidly. It doesn't cause any real issues, it's just annoying, as you have to release it so it settles down (which is immediate) then you can make any changes you need to make. As I said, it's more an annoyance or minor hindrance at most, and does not impact the clock's functionality, and I wouldn't let it affect my decision to buy one. However, it is, to me, a sign of something either being poorly designed or poorly put together. I have no idea if it's common or just mine. Anyways, after owning it for 3 months, I still hold to my initial rating of 4 stars.

Nearly every aspect of the Neverlate Executive Alarm Clock is fully customizable to suit personal preferences. Everything from the backlight brightness to the alarm duration is fully adjustable. Two alarm banks provide two completely independent seven-day wake schedules, his and hers for example. In addition, the clock features a daily reminder bank, calendar display, and a preferences menu that allows one to choose disparate wake settings. For example, wake to NPR news at 7:00 am weekdays, a favorite Saturday morning talk show on a different station, and the buzzer on Sunday. Designed to be easy to set, a simple twist of the patent-pending rotary dial makes complicated push-buttons a thing of the past. A powered USB port on the back accommodates an electric fan or laptop boom lamp. Plus, the clock features line-in, headphone jack, and more. Each time the snooze button is hit, the snooze time is cut in half until finally the Neverlate Executive won't allow snoozing any more. Or, one can even disable the tempting snooze button. This ultra high-tech clock is ac powered with battery backup.

very cute, loud enough, works well, only problem is the sinlge button used to control the entire alarm is pushed by a piece of silicon on the cover, and our doesn't' fit right...so we have to use a small object like a bobby pin or pencil tip to turn the alarm on/off

Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black) Review

Sony ICF-C318 Automatic Time Set Clock Radio with Dual Alarm (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So easy to set & price is right. Radio works good too.
2 seperate alarms, radio or beep. Time is correct out of the box - that's the only "automatic time set" in play here - -1 star for the "automatic time set" which isn't really... Battery backup built in - not a 9v, aaa or aa...looks like it will last - round, flat battery of some type like a watch battery, only larger.
3 settings for display. The lowest is dim enough not to bother me and the highest is fairly bright - low is tough to see in full daylight..
Good value here IMHO. Would buy again ....

Seiko Bedside Alarm Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case Review

Seiko Bedside Alarm Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case

LOVE THIS CLOCK. SLIGHTLY OLD FASHIONED STYLING, BUT I LIKE THAT. IT HAS A NICE LOUD BELL-TYPE ALARM. YOU CANNOT SLEEP WHEN THIS ALARM IS ON! SO IF YOU ARE A FAIRLY HEAVY SLEEPER, IT SHOULD WAKE YOU UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. THE ONLY WARNING I HAVE IS THAT WHEN YOU SET THE ALARM TIME, MAKE SURE YOU TURN THE KNOB IN THE COUNTERCLOCKWISE DIRECTION AS STATED IN THE INSTRUCTIONS, OR IT WON'T WORK. OTHER THAN THAT, THIS IS A GREAT LITTLE CLOCK. IT ALSO KEEPS GOOD TIME.

We bought this for a 19 year old college student. I wasn't so sure if this clock would be so annoying that he wouldn't like it. He loved it--not so sure how he's roommates will feel.

New Generic Glowing LED Color Mood Changing Digital Alarm Clock Popular High Quality Practical Review

New Generic Glowing LED Color Mood Changing Digital Alarm Clock Popular High Quality Practical
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this for a kids room so she could see the time at night, plus it looked like a fun little kids clock. It arrived fast and for about $5 shipped was perfect.
The product description says it runs on batteries and AC adapter. While it doesn't say it includes this adapter I assumed it did. Well, it does not. I did have an extra laying around but in the end Im using the battery only power for now.
I does come with the 2 cell batteries which power the display but you have to provide the 4 aaa batteries for the glow effect.
The glowing is very bright and looks good.
One nice feature is that you can set the clock to only glow when you touch it lightly. This way if it is within reach during the night you can tap it for the glow effect and to see the time. This should save on the battery drain. You could also leave it on 24/7 if you want, in that case you would probably want to get an AC adapter.
The instructions are written in broken English, very comical to read. Not that you need them to setup but still funny. I only read them to see if the AC adapter was supposed to be included.
In the end, great buy for a $5 novelty clock.

Sonic Alert SB1000ss Sonic Boom Loud Vibrating Alarm Clock with Built In Receiver

I'm a heavy sleeper compounded by the fact that I need to get up before the sun. I would set 2 alarms with my cell phone as a backup and still sometimes sleep through them only waking up when there was a little light out. I bought this because of the stated volume it was capable of. I'm a little dissapointed in that part of it, my Phillips alarm clock is much louder than this thing BUT between the bed shaker and the ability to turn on a light it wakes me right up. I'm not sure which one does it, I think its the lamp with the 100 watt bulb it flashes. I would definately recommend getting this model with the light module.

Sonic Boom SBH400ss Sweetheart Loud Plus Vibrating Alarm Clock

In case you worry that the bed shaker won't work, it DOES really shake/buzz the whole (twin) bed in short annoying bursts. You can choose vibrate only, vibe & alarm buzzer, buzzer only. The alarm buzzer volume & tone can be adjusted a lot (all are quite annoying & guaranteed to get anyone out of bed, esp if your heavy sleeper is awakened first by the bed shaker). My daughter will not wake up with a regular alarm no matter how loud. Usually I have to go in & harass the poor child, then keep going back to wake her up again...& again. I work; I don't have time for that! This gets her AWAKE. The heart shape & color is very cute, & my 11 year old likes the rainbow color time display. So far, she doesn't hate it yet. ;-) Now I'm looking for one for boys!
