(More customer reviews)I just purchased this alarm clock since it's become way too easy to snooze through my cell phone alarms. I wanted one with really loud bells that wouldn't turn off on its own. (Cell phones tend to turn off after about a minute, even without hitting snooze. This is a problem for heavy sleepers or night owls, like myself). And, while this alarm won't send the fire marshal to your house, it absolutely sounds loud and clear AND STEADY (NO SNOOZE)! This clock will not stop ringing until you turn it off (with the same switch used to turn the alarm on, located on the backside). It would be nice if the cute handle also functioned as a snooze/off trigger but oh well- convenience is what got me into the snoozing habit anyway.
The clock is lightweight, and a very nice alternative to the very expensive metal clocks on the market. It requires one AA battery, but you insert two (one for backup). The face plate is a clear thick acrylic (though it feels like glass). The bells and the sounding arm as well as handle and feet are all metal. I got the flat black color and it looks really good! The second hand DOES NOT TICK. It smoothly sweeps around the face. As far as I can tell, the product works as promised (although I cannot vouch for how long it will continue to work as I haven't had it long. It doesn't seem like it will fall apart - I hope not, as there is no manufacturer's warranty or instructions included in box.
NOTE: There is only one way to set this clock: approximately. There is only one hand with which to set the alarm time. Because there is only one hand indicating the time of alarm (and there are no minute markings on the clock face signaling minutes past the hour) I would suggest setting the clock time as your desired alarm time, THEN set the alarm hand to that position, THEN go back and set the real time. That way, if you are trying to set your alarm for, say 6:15, you will have set the alarm hand in the same position as the hour hand when the minute hand was at the 15min position. Does that make sense? Also, this means you can only set one alarm. There are no additional hands to set additional alarm times.
Anyway, between the time I purchased the clock and its delivery, I independently upgraded to a new phone that has an alarm clock app which requires me to do math problems to turn it off. This also does the trick, so I don't really need this clock anymore. I was going to return it but it's so nice looking I'm probably going to keep it.Hope this helps.
