Equity by La Crosse 65901 Hybrid Solar Analog Alarm Clock Review

Equity by La Crosse 65901 Hybrid Solar Analog Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

The clock is, as the other reviewer stated, light and at first feels "flimsy." It's plastic, and a little bigger than a deck of cards; smaller than I was expecting.
The 'ticking' issue is pretty irrelevant I can't hear it in my bed and it's literally fifteen inches from my ear, so it's really a non-issue. The light feature is great, the alarm works well, and the deco-styling is pretty nice for a clock this size. The top solar panel works as the "snooze" / alarm off button, which is handy.
Overall, quite pleased. I hope it holds up.

Stylish and classic, this analog alarm clock not only looks great on the bedside table, but it also enjoys hybrid battery and solar power for energy efficiency. The Equity by La Crosse 65901 alarm clock absorbs light with its top-mounted solar panel to convert into power. By operating off solar power during daylight hours, the clock extends the life of its batteries to upwards of two years. The clock is crafted with sleek, silver plastic casing and features easy-to-read, black numbers on its dial. In dim or dark settings, an on-demand green backlight illuminates the clock dial, and the clock's hour and minute hands glow. A slender silver clock hand ticks off seconds, and another clock hand indicates the set alarm hour. To wake the user more gently, the alarm ascends in volume gradually, and a snooze function is available. The clock requires the separate purchase of two AA alkaline batteries. For optimum efficiency, place the clock in a well-lit environment. The clock measures 4 inches wide by 1-1/2 inches deep by 3-1/2 inches high.

GPX FR1807 Weather X AM/FM Instant Weatherband Lantern Radio with Clock Review

GPX FR1807 Weather X AM/FM Instant Weatherband Lantern Radio with Clock
Average Reviews:

I received the GPX WeatherX FR1807 as a gift. My first impression was that it looked like a pretty good, well built, versatile flashlight/radio combo. But after installing the batteries I noticed the battery compartment cap/carrying strap will not stay on unless you are very careful with it. It was molded in two pieces, and if there is any flexing at all, it will split apart, regardless of the two tabs that keep it intact, and disconnect from the main unit. This would appear to be a serious design flaw and needs to be addressed by the manufacturer. If it were not for this problem, I would give it a much higher rating.

Howard Miller 645-679 Blackstone Travel Alarm Clock by Review

Does exactly what it says. Nothing fancy about it. It's small, sturdy and has a loud alarm. Had it for about a year and after a bit of abuse, it's starting to fail. Will probably be ordering another to replace the one I have. On the downside, it is a bit overpriced. Took a star off because of that.

Etón ARCFR800 American Red Cross Weather Tracker - NOAA and S.A.M.E. Weather Radio Plus Alert Review

Etón ARCFR800 American Red Cross Weather Tracker - NOAA and S.A.M.E. Weather Radio Plus Alert
Average Reviews:

I purchased this weather radio to use at work. The idea was to have it (1) only sound an alarm for our county, and (2) only sound an alarm for tornado warnings and severe thunderstorm warnings (i.e., not for watches, tests, etc.). Following the instructions, I programmed the S.A.M.E. code for our county, and I disabled all but the aforementioned alerts. Regardless, the radio sounds at any and all events, including the weekly tests. That makes it practically worthless for use in the workplace. It is a shame, because the unit itself seems pretty well built (though surprisingly large), and the reception and sound quality are quite good. I should have bought the same Midland WR-300 we have at home, which is quite easy to program and has worked great for us.

The Weather Tracker FR800 is a great digital table top radio that receives the normal AM and FM stations with the bonus of S.A.M.E. which is a public alert system operated through NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association). It comes with and AC adapter included and can also operated on 3 D cell batteries (not included). It can also function as a normal alarm clock that gives it yet another function. Having both the options of wall plug or batteries in case of an emergency so you will always have the necessary information.

Ambient Weather WR-088 Emergency Solar Hand Crank AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio, Flashlight, Cell Phone Charger (Red) with Cables Review

Ambient Weather WR-088 Emergency Solar Hand Crank AM/FM/NOAA Weather Radio, Flashlight, Cell Phone Charger (Red) with Cables

I was looking for an emergency radio/flashlight that would allow me to use my cell phone in case there was a prolonged power outage. This device seems to fit the bill nicely.

The only reason I didn't rate this as a 5 was that 1 of the 4 units that I bought had a defective AM radio. It would only barely receive 1 powerful local station. The radio comments below apply to the other 3 units.
The crank is easy to use and has a nice long arm on it and noticeable resistance is encountered when cranking. The charge LED lights almost immediately at low cranking speeds. The solar cell was able to charge the battery on an overcast Indiana morning. I was able to receive many AM and FM radio stations as well as the NOAA weather station in our area, with good sound quality.
The unit has a mini USB connector to accept charging of its internal battery via USB as well as the solar and hand crank inputs. Power output occurs through a full-sized standard USB jack. The supplied USB cable has a coaxial power style female connector (3.5mm O.D.). This cable mates up with one of two supplied tips to yield either a mini USB or micro USB cable. The mini USB cable can be used for charging and the micro USB is a very common cell phone power interface. The photo online doesn't accurately show the 3 cable related items I received with my radio (1 cable and 2 tips).
The 3 5mm led powered flashlight produces a pleasing white light of about 800 lux @ 1ft and 140 lux @ 2 ft, well focused into a single beam.
All-in-all the build quality of this item appears to be good. The charge handle seems secure, the case is made of a rubberize plastic (I like the feel of these plastics), the flashlight switch is a push on/push off switch under a rubber cover. The radio tuning knobs feel a little spongy and the band switch feels like the case material interferes with the sliding of the switch a bit.

Seiko Bedside Alarm Get Up and Glow Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case Review

Seiko Bedside Alarm Get Up and Glow Clock Silver-Tone Metallic Case
Average Reviews:

I need a clock in my bathroom. This one fits the bell and is vey chic looking. My only complaint is that it is not very visible. The numbers blends into the dark grey background. The background should've been white or lighter color. (There's nightlight that you can press but it doesn't stay too long.) The clock, the alarm, and the date are all very easy to set up. It is small enough so that it doesn't take up too much counter space. I'm glad I bought it -- just wished that it was more visible.

Timex T065S Solar Powered Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock Review

Timex T065S Solar Powered Radio Controlled Atomic Alarm Clock
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a great clock. The several others I purchased and returned before I ordered this one had a display so bright it was like having a night light sitting on the nightstand. This display is lit only when you press the button on top and then only for a few seconds - a second or two longer would be good but it's ok the way it is. Its features all work great: the solar power, setting itself from the atomic clock, and the date, time and temperature display. I have three complaints: pressing the button on top to turn on the indiglo night light to view the display makes a fairly loud click noise, one cannot choose to leave the indiglo light on (as one could on previous models of Timex alarm clocks), and the switch to turn the alarm on and off is not convenient.
