It looks very sharp, fits any decor, and best of all the hands can be seen from across the room every easily (high contrast, white on black). No ticking sound either. Its a keeper.

(More customer reviews)It's very compact for travel which is nice but if you need an accurate alarm this is not the clock for you. I'm returning this item today because the alarm just doesn't function like it should. The alarm set dial on the face of the clock is in 10 minute increments. The alarm itself goes off plus or minus 7 or 8 minutes either way. One time it didn't go off at all.
It's great for time, not so great for an alarm clock.

(More customer reviews)The previous reviewers were both right. The clock is very loud and the knobs are too close together. It's the ticking inside this clock that will drive you mad. First, I had it on the night stand. Then I had to move it to the opposite side of the room and could still hear it. Finally, I had to move it to outside the bedroom door. I felt like I was in a Poe novel and had done something horrible to deserve the incessant ticking in my ears.
It looks nice but it was poorly designed.

(More customer reviews)I'm always looking for the Nirvana product...best briefcase, cellphone, carry-on bag, toiletries container...and that's just for travel. I'm obsessive about my golf clubs, cars, televisions, etc. So when I stayed in a luxury hotel in Palo Alto, CA, this somewhat normal looking clock was on the nightstand. I looked at it, no cord, but a very large and readable face. And what was this little dial on the lower right? I spun it and it was the most effective and easy to use alarm setting dial I had ever seen...on the front of the clock!!!! I noticed it had a simple alarm on/off on the right and a large snooze button on top. Also, on the lower left was what looked like some kind of sensor. So I set the alarm and a placed a backup wakeup call as I usually do to the front desk. When I turned the light off, I noticed that the clock face was glowing green from a small LED in the lower part of the dial! Turned the light back on and it went off. Turned the alarm off and the light off and the face glowed orange! So, turned the alarm back on, face glows green again!!!! So, if you're an idiot like me, then you get "reassurance" that the alarm is on if it's green. And if you want it even brighter, you press the snooze on top. The alarm is escalating, and incredibly effective. This thing should be in the MOMA for a design award. One of the best and most fairly priced items I've ever purchased on Amazon. I regularly give them for gifts to my team and friends. Only problem, it's a little large to travel with. BTW, I asked the front desk if I could keep the clock and they could charge it to my room and they said "sure, people ask to keep that clock all the time!" Might want to order some LiIon batteries, 3 AAs to go along with it. I think the silver one is cooler looking than the black one.

Seiko Travel Alarm Get Up and Glow Clock Soft Silver-Tone Metallic Case Review

1. It looks cheap. In the photo here on Amazon, it looks shiny like metal. In reality, it's a cheap-looking plastic.
2. The clock hand that sets the alarm moves in only one direction. So if you overshoot the time you want, you can't just nudge it back ... you have to go all the way around the face again.
3. It's very difficult to move the clock hand that sets the alarm. The dial for this is stiff and awkward. I have long, slender fingers and find it difficult. I imagine that someone with chubby fingers would find it impossible. Additionally, it's impossible to nudge the hand a little bit. So if you undershoot, you have to go all the way around again.
4. The hand that sets the alarm is very short, which means that the end of it is far from the numbers on the face. It's impossible to be precise about the alarm time you're setting.

(More customer reviews)I was surprised how big this clock is. It's about 4" X 4" and almost 2" thick. The build quality is not as sharp looking as I thought it would be, based on the photo. The controls are OK, but I was hoping for an easier on/off switch. Only the snooze and light are activated by the big button on top. To actually turn the alarm off, you have to find a small sliding switch on the back side. My biggest complaint though is that the alarm is extremely loud. I've had to tape a cloth over the hole in the housing where the sound comes out to dampen it. This has helped some, but it's still too loud and the cloth does not improve the looks. I guess I could sit down and figure out how to open the housing and muffle the sound from the inside, but it's not obvious how to get it open, and I could only summon the motivation to go to this kind of trouble if the clock were as cute as it looks in the picture.

(More customer reviews)This is truly a great little clock. Thin, accurate and also, completely silent. I find ticking clocks very disturbing and this one makes no noise at all. I have have several: this and the other model that is nearly identical except that it is gold. I keep one bedside, and travel with one. It is a great daily alarm with an easy-to-use snooze function, and a superb travel clock as it is totally thin, light and DEPENDABLE (unlike hotel wake-up calls, even in 5 star hotels as we recently found in Barcelona...were it not for this travel clock, we would have missed our flight.)
The battery lasts at least 7 years, is easy to replace, and inexpensive (approx. $3.00 US at Target) Just be sure to get the correct thickness of battery...I accidentally got what I thought was the right one, but lithium batteries come in varied thicknesses and as I had gotten the wrong thickness, it did not power up my clock so I thought the clock had conked out...on closer inspection I found my error and the clock is now into its 15th year!

(More customer reviews)This clock's best features include accurate timekeeping, adjustable alarm volume, and quiet operation. Some say the clock is ugly but I would say it qualifies as handsome. At night you can see the time with a glowing face and radium dials. There is also a second hand sweep and the alarm appears accurate.
There are three gotchas though. First and most important, the lamp (light bulb) is exceptionally weak and makes it difficult to adjust the time without another source of light. Second, the glowing face and radium dials are somewhat weak in my opinion. My wife, who is the one using the clock, says she can see the time at night, meaning the glow is adequate for her. Third, this clock is pricey but with a weak dollar what can you expect.
I offered to return the clock because of the weak light bulb but she rather keep it. Message to Seiko: fix the bulb and you have a great alarm clock.
Single AA battery, attractive plastic face and case, one pullout knob on back to set time and alarm, on/off slide button on side of clock for alarm, adjustable alarm volume knob and speaker in front, wide base for exceptional stability.
Update about 10 months later: One day, the alarm went off about 35 minutes early. Turns out that if we set the alarm sweep (hand) by turning clockwise a small distance, we would be woken up early (very bad Seiko). The trick is to always turn the alarm sweep counter-clockwise; then you wake up on time.

(More customer reviews)I first bought one for my son because he had trouble setting other clocks for school and would get up late.. later got another since my wife and I kept changing wake settings and I needed my own.
Setting the alarm is SUPER easy. There is a built in night-light, amber when the alarm is turned off, green when on. Auto-sensor turns off LED in the daytime or when lights are on. Pressing the snooze button increases LED brightness making the clock easily visible in the dark. I thought the LEDs would mean frequent battery changes but they last and last. Alarm sound is an escalating beep that increases in volume.
This is a great clock for any drowsy person to operate correctly.

(More customer reviews)This alarm has turned out to be pretty useless. It's quite small as I'd read, but that's where the good stuff ends. There's no snooze, no light, and you can't set an exact wake up time. There's a single hand that sets the alarm off, but you have to approximate the time. You can't turn the alarm back on either, because it will continue to go off until it's 30 minutes past the set time. It's also quite cheaply made. Pushing a bit too hard either on or off will cause the entire clock face to spin. The metal cover is quite wobbly. I was hoping for something a bit classy to back up my other travel alarms, but this thing is garbage.
