This is the first Apple dock I have bought. It works great with our family's iPods, iTouch, iPad and even our iPhone4's. Recharges the devices as well as plays music. Controls are simple, with only 5 buttons + on/off on the front. Just what you need and no more. It's size is the same - just big enough for an iPad + 2 small speakers, and no more. (I love electronics with space-efficient design). Sound is excellent for such small speakers. I'm definitely ordering at least one more after Christmas.

Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station Review

Sony RDP-XF100IP Portable iPod Docking Station
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had agonized over the ideal dock for my iPod Touch with the stipulations that it had to be a reasonable size (I've lost some interest in big component systems.), and it would need at least an FM radio. While I've wanted to try HD radio, my understanding of availability in my area was that it could be if-y. So, good FM access would be fine. It seems like a small thing, but I'm legally blind and don't drive, so casual access to something like a car radio is fairly rare for me. My first, and most familiar, choice was a product that I had some familiarity with - the VERS system, with newer models incorporating a highly visible FM tuner. I had eventually tired of shipping delays for this device and gone to Best Buy to find the Sony.
Not only did the Sony dock have better sound than the VERS that I once owned, it was smaller, stylish and has the best receiving FM tuner that I've ever found in a portable or non-portable device. I've tended to live in older homes with older wiring and cloth wrapped interference bleeding electrical systems. The reception on the Sony dock is unlike any that I've ever owned, even with the convenient telescoping antenna in the stowed position. And the sound is rich and vibrant - certainly comparable to the similar Bose device that sports no FM tuner at twice the price.
The controls at the top of the dock are easily accessed and perform all of the functions found on the remote. As I noted above, I'm legally blind, but depend just enough on the tiny amount of eyesight that I do have to make use of digital displays. This one, unfortunately, and while not a deal-breaker, is terrible. It could be larger, though it's not unreasonably small. The problem is that it's abysmally dim - of almost no use to me. If this was an adjustable - and it wouldn't have hurt if it was larger - the dock would have received 5 stars from me.
In all, the RDP-XF100iP dock is not just a fine dock that does what I'd expect a dock to do, but is a nicely put together package that represents Sony quality first represented for me in my first Trinitron to my latest HD television. Highly recommended.

NAXA Electronics NI-3205 Two Sided Portable AM/FM Stereo Radio with CD Player and Dock for iPod Review

NAXA Electronics NI-3205 Two Sided Portable AM/FM Stereo Radio with CD Player and Dock for iPod
Average Reviews:

I purchased this CD player for my daughters room and its been working great since we purchased it. I guess my only compliant is that the volume increase/decrease option is not available on the remote and it took me a minute to find it where it was on the actual radio. Turns out its a dial on the left hand side, opposite side of the AM/FM turner. Also - I put batteries in the radio and they dont seem to provide a DC voltage. They were new batteries so it shouldn't be an issue with the them... I am still looking into this. The ipod option is great and we have been using our iphones to play pandora, etc. Its very portable and we really like it so far. Its definitely worth the price. Also has a small clock that lights up blue at night so you can see the time in the dark.

BeoTime Review

Average Reviews:

When it said it could turn on your lights, TV, radio, DVD, etc., et., to wake you up and you could use it as a remote control, I assumed it was a learning remote control. It is NOT. I read the brief start up guide that came with the unit from cover to cover -- almost no information provided. I went online to try to find a real manual -- found it, downloaded it. (They should have included a manual with the unit.) Read it completely. The only "programming" there is is a list of cryptic Bank $ Olufsen device initials to choose from. So if you are a heavy Bang & Olufsen user, you have lots and lots of wonderful capabilities with Sleep Time Out, Waking up to a particular track of a CD, etc. This thing is completely worthless to me.

iHome iP1 Studio Series Speaker System for iPod and iPhone (Black) Review

iHome iP1 Studio Series Speaker System for iPod and iPhone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think this system is one of the best, if not the best, sound systems available for iPhone/iPod considering its cost and sound quality. A similar Bose system cost about $400. Yet, IP1 fails in few areas, mainly some basic design areas and secondly sound fine tuning. Good:
-Cost is lesser than similar Bose
-Good sized remote easily controls iPhones or iPod.
-Sound quality is not bad, actually very clean.
-iPhone or iTouch, once docked, lays its back to the device, getting a good support from IP1s plexi-glass surface, preventing accidental breaking of the connection. Bose does not have this advantage.
-Design is appealing to some as it is a bit different (based on personal preference), some likes boxy, minimalist design, like my self.
Bad:
-Yes it sounds nice, but no matter how much you lower the treble, it still sounds high on treble, even with the extra bass.
-No, it does not sound high enough to tremble the room, the volume is in lower end, may be this is good to prevent over load on the speakers.
-The infamous "power brick", which is separate piece than the system is almost three time bigger than an average laptop power brick. It requires extra attention to place into a proper location so it won't be visible. iHome should have designed better brick, AppleTV has some lessons on this area.
-Design is a bit un-minimalistic for my taste. System's design makes it difficult to safely place it or carry it around. You may need to place this in place and leave it there. To much curves/corners. iHome would better box this into a nice quality plastic container for practical purposes.
Conclusion:
- Yes, I would recommend this system to anyone who is looking for a moderately quality sound system with good price. It is well worth to pay around $230 for this system. However, do not expect miracles, and forget about being mobile with this, even in the house.
-I congratulate iHome folks to initiate this type of system, I am hoping they will improve on this in design and sound area. They are almost there. With an inclusion wi-fi radio system, iHome may come up a better product that may crush all the other new music systems out there.
TIPS:
1- You can install the "Shoutcast" app to your iPhone and stream thousands internet radios just like a wi-fi radio, now, you have a wi-fi radio as well.
2- Or, better, you can buy an Airport Express for $99.
Connect it to music system with its 3.5mm connection,
Configure it to connect to your Mac or PC's iTunes application
Play the music you like on your Mac or PC with iTunes application to have the music streamed into the Air port Express which puts it to any sound system.
3- Even, better, (yes it gets better ) you can also install "Remote" application from app store into your iPhone or Touch which controls your iTunes player on your Mac or PC.
In turn, wherever you are in your house, you control your music with iPhone via Remote app (like a remote control, but seeing entire iTunes library on your iPhone/Touch) through wi-fi network, streaming the music into the any stereo via AirPort Express.
Would that work for you?

Be warned, this product only has a 90 day warranty. After owning this product for only five months it began producing an overwhelmingly loud hissing noise that could not be remedied. Thinking I had a year warranty like most modern products, the iHome company quickly informed me of my expired 90 day policy. Now I have a defunct product not even six months old, complete waste of money.

Look no further for a complete sound system for your iPhone or Bluetooth mobile phone. The iP47 is designed and engineered to shield and avoid annoying iPhone/mobile phone GSM noise so no airplane mode is required--which means that you'll never miss a call again when your phone is docked.

The iP47 supports Bluetooth technology and allows you to wirelessly dial and receive calls through its speakerphone function and to see clearer caller ID on the large LCD. The dual alarm clock radio allows you to wake and sleep to your iPhone music, radio, or buzzer and to set separate alarm times. Stream your music wirelessly from your A2DP Bluetooth-enabled device through the Reson8 speaker chambers to enjoy beautifully enhanced audio sound. Also includes a full-function remote control.

Play and Charge Your iPod The iP47 will play and charge most docking iPod models, so you can enjoy your music while your device charges. Get up and go with a full battery.
Bluetooth Support Answer and place calls with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones using the built-in microphone. Dial a number using the remote or the iP47's keypad and enjoy a hands-free call.
You also can wirelessly stream music from your Bluetooth-enabled phone, PDA, or computer. The iP47 supports the Handsfree, Headset, AVRCP, and A2DP Bluetooth Profiles.
iPod, Radio, Bluetooth, or Buzzer Alarm Wake to your docked iPod, the radio, a Bluetooth device, or--if you must--a classic buzzer alarm. A dual alarm lets you set separate wake times.
Battery backup means you'll still get up on time even in the event of a power outage. If the alarm is set to Bluetooth/iPod, and no device is present, the buzzer is substituted. So you'll always get up on time.
AM/FM Radio Save your favorite AM and FM stations on the 12 user presets for quick access.
Rich Stereo Sound The iP47 boasts two active and two passive speakers, along with Reson8 technology for full, rich sound.
Reson8 is iHome's through-body ported speaker chamber technology. Porting speakers gives better bass response characteristics, and helps the iP47 deliver sound beyond its size.
Auxiliary Input Connect external devices like MP3 or CD players to the rear auxiliary input for your enjoyment.
Full-Function Remote Control Enjoy convenient control from a distance with the included remote--control radio and iPod functions, hit snooze from a distance, and dial or answer phone calls when your Bluetooth phone is connected.

I love the iLuv. I've been using it on my desk with both my iPod and iPad. I especially enjoy using it with my iPad because I can set music image displays while listening to music, or watch videos. The iLuv has a cool slick design, all black, that melts into the background. You simply plug it in and turn it on. Place your ipod on top and operate. It charges the battery while you use it. It's great! And, the sound quality is top-notch. It has a nice even, lush, balance. I'm really enjoying mine and I highly recommend it to all my friends. Cheers!

Timex T172G Dual Alarm Clock with AM/FM Radio and iPod Dock (Silver) Review

Timex T172G Dual Alarm Clock with AM/FM Radio and iPod Dock (Silver)

I got this clock radio to work with my iPhone. It does work, but it prompts to put the phone in Airplane mode while on the dock because you can not take phone calls through the speakers of the radio.
Alarms - Not only does the clock radio have 2 alarms you can set, but it also works with alarms set on the iPhone itself.
I also like the fact you can dim the lighted display with a push of the snooze button. So if you don't like the grow from the clock you can dim it or turn it off completely.

Wake up in style with this iPod-friendly alarm clock from Timex. With a rounded, modern look and bright blue display, the Ti72 will make sure you and a companion get to work on time thanks to a dual alarm. Wake to iPod, AM/FM radio, or buzzer, and enjoy features like Automatic Alarm Reset, which sets you up for the next day with a single touch. A line-in jack lets you listen to other devices through the speaker system, and the new Bedtime Beats feature gives you built-in music designed to make you drift off with ease.

Play and Charge Your iPod The Ti72 plays and charges docking iPod models, so you can enjoy your music (along with the alarm features), and when you're ready to hit the road, your iPod will be too.
Wake to iPod, AM/FM Radio, or Buzzer Wake to your favorite morning radio program, or pick your favorite tunes on a docked iPod. Of course, for some that's not enough, so you can still bring out the heavy artillery with a buzzer alarm.
The display features a dimmer for adjusting the brightness to your liking, and standard alarm features are also included, like the ever-important snooze, for a little more precious sleep.
Dual Alarm This allows you to set separate wake times, so if your companion has to go to work earlier, it's not up to them to reset the alarm.
The Ti72 also allows you to set separate alarm sources, so one party can use the iPod and the other can go with the radio/buzzer, depending on preference.
Automatic Alarm Reset The Alarm Reset function turns off the alarm, then automatically resets it for the next day at the same time. Take away the worry of remembering to set the alarm each evening.
Battery Backup The Ti72's battery backup maintains your clock and alarm settings in case of power failure, so you don't end up late.
Bedtime Beats The Ti72 features built-in Bedtime Beats music--soothing classical, jazz and new age sounds that promote deep, restful sleep. Based on a sleep study conducted at Case Western Reserve University, Bedtime Beats comprises soothing music that cycles at 60-80 beats per minute, which was shown to help people fall asleep and stay asleep longer.
Auxiliary Input The 3.5mm line input lets you connect external audio devices, such as MP3 players, for an easy amplification solution.
Optional Remote Add the optional iRTi72B remote for control over functions such as power on/off, pause, forward/reverse track, snooze/dimmer, and volume on the unit.

iLuv imm178 Vibe Plus Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker for iPod and iPhone (Black) Review

iLuv imm178 Vibe Plus Dual Alarm Clock with Bed Shaker for iPod and iPhone (Black)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the first time that I have ever written a review for a product. I was hesitant on buying it the first time because there were no reviews. Even after owning it for only one day I felt compelled to write a review as I see it is getting only a two star review and it deserves so much better.
I first saw the Iluv Imm178 in a magazine advertisement and thought it sounded wonderful. My husband has to get out of bed at 3:45 for work in the morning. To avoid waking our children up he has always used his alarm on his phone and put it on vibrate. He then clenches his phone all night long and wakes often to ensure he is still holding it. Obviously, he doesn't get a lot of sleep because of this. So, when I saw the bed shaker I thought it would be wonderful (if it worked) so I got this product although I was hesitant because of the lack of reviews. I did look at the older model and considered it but when I looked at the negatives in the review, it looked like the company fixed all of the complaints and I definitely believe they have.
Well, it came in yesterday and although it has only been a day I am so pleased. Now, if you are expecting a Bose sound system, you aren't going to find it. Don't get me wrong, the sound it great, but let's have practical expectations for a $100 alarm clock. The sound surprisingly can fill a room and the bass and treble are adjustable to what your music preference is. We were very pleased with the sound.
The entire unit is easy to use. I had no problems setting the alarms and all the bells and whistles. It really does have quite a few wonderful features. You can even set the snooze to different time increments. It can return 5,7,9, or 15 minutes later. Finally the bed shaker, the reason why I bought it. We first gave it a test run before bed in which I set it 5 minutes ahead. I actually forgot I had set it and it made me jump so high when it went off! My husband used it to wake him up this morning and he woke up immediately. I am surprised that it would not wake up some people. Anyway, we are happy and no more cell phone alarm clock! Thank you Iluv!

Pyle PHST90IBK 600 Watt Digital 2.1 Channel Home Theater Tower with iPod Docking Station (Black Wood Finish) Review

Pyle PHST90IBK 600 Watt Digital 2.1 Channel Home Theater Tower with iPod Docking Station (Black Wood Finish)
Average Reviews:

I have been using this stand for a couple of days. The sound quality is just "okay." Not bad, not great, just Okay. It is falsely advertised as a powerful 600 watt unit, which it is not, nowhere near. It does play decently loud....but it is not REAL loud. I put the volume all the way up and was surprised to see "Max" well before I expected. I purchased the unit for my inside patio, to be able to hear it outside while I am around the pool and it does a decent job at that, that is why I am keeping it. I hooked it up to my flat screen and it is NOT a good surround home theater system. You do have to adjust the bass and treble on the unit, but it will end up sounding just okay. If your thinking about using this solely as a theater system for your television, keep looking and buy a better sounding product. I hooked my android phone to it, used Pandora radio, and again it sounds good on the patio, but not great or fantastic. Whatever company makes this unit, Pyle or what have you, did not use anywhere near top of the line speakers or electronics. The back of the unit has a simple charging cord and one input for L/R (white/red) audio. Nothing more elaborate than that for better audio input. I'm not unhappy with the product, just think it's okay for the purpose I needed and I think I overpaid what it is worth, which is between one bill and a half.

iHome iP21GVC Spacesaver Application-Friendly Alarm Clock for iPod and iPhone (Gunmetal) Review

iHome iP21GVC Spacesaver Application-Friendly Alarm Clock for iPod and iPhone (Gunmetal)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
iHome truly gets what an iPhone/iPod accessory should be.
First, let's be clear about what it's not: This is not a stand-alone clock radio. Without the iPhone/iPod attached, it's simply a clock with a buzzer alarm (buzzer sounds like the ubiquitous vehicle back-up alarm).
To use it effectively, you must have your iPhone/iPod attached and you need two apps loaded to your device: iHome+Sleep (a free app) and iHome+Radio ($2.99). Then, if you want to use it as a clock radio, you must have the iHome+Sleep app open. If any of these conditions aren't met, it reverts to being a clock with a buzzer alarm.
"Wow," you're probably thinking, "is it worth this hassle?" Yup, it truly is.
What you get is a stylish, compact, solidly-built unit that charges your device (meaning there's one less cord), provides excellent sound for your iPod songs, and allows you an abundance of wake-up and go-to-sleep options. With the provided adapters, it's also easy to slide your device on to the unit (set ups for multiple versions of iPhones/iPods).
Time display has a good variety of settings, so you can keep it bright or dim it down depending on your preferences. Next to the bed, even with my bad eye sight, I have no trouble reading it at night at the setting I've chosen, and it doesn't illuminate the whole room.
The iHome+Radio is an excellent app giving you access to a large number of categories and stations for streamed content (and I understand they're working to increase offerings all the time). It will replace my Tune-In radio app, as it has equal offerings and is a well-designed app.
The iHome+Sleep app then turns the whole set-up into a wonderful clock radio. If iHome+Sleep can be faulted for anything, it's the overkill on its design and capabilities (e.g., you're presented with a slider bar for telling it when you go to sleep and when you wake up and it will track your sleep history for you ["Let's see now...I'm about to fall asleep, I'd better reach over and touch my slider..."]).
What it does give you:
· Wake to iPod music, buzzer, or any station that streams through iHome+Radio.
· Set your alarm(s) for weekdays, weekends, or any combination of days you want.
· If you want, automatically view Facebook or Twitter feeds before going to sleep or when you wake up.
· Vary the 'fade-in' of the alarm (starts softly, then gradually fade-in to the volume you want).
· Control how bright the iHome+Sleep screen is on your iPhone (remember, it has to be open to use this device).
· Use it in reverse and play iPod/internet radio when going to sleep (sleep timer).
All-in-all, this is a GREAT device. I've quickly gotten used to procedures you must follow, and the options it gives you are wonderful.

iHome iP45 Portable Stereo with Rechargeable Alarm Clock, FM Radio, and Dock for iPod/iPhone Review

iHome iP45 Portable Stereo with Rechargeable Alarm Clock, FM Radio, and Dock for iPod/iPhone
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I did not have a chance to compare the sound of this unit directly to other similar units, but my subjective sense is that it has decent sound for the size. It also cranks out a lot of volume - more than enough for what I am using it for (a speaker in the kitchen while I do chores). The bass response is much better than I would have expected. The unit closes to fold fairly flat (a little more than an inch), which is nice if you need to pack it up and move it. It includes a rechargeable battery should you want to take it with you to some location where there is no place to plug in. I can't imagine needing that myself, but perhaps if one wanted to take their music camping, it would be a good choice. I experimented with the battery a bit. After two full hours of non-stop playing, the battery indicator still showed full.
The controls are fairly simple and obvious. It includes adapters for various iPhone models. Unfortunately, as is typical of these devices, you have to remove the phone from its case to get a good connection. I haven't found one yet where that wasn't the case, but that is a feature I would be willing to pay extra for.
I have only two complaints. First, the backup battery for the alarm clock and the remote were dead on arrival. I haven't had a chance to go buy replacements. Consequently, I can't comment on how well the remote works. Secondly, even with the included antenna, the FM reception is not great. It only clearly picks up about half as many stations as the radio in the next room. However, that wasn't really a feature I was looking for in this device. I would be more likely to use the Pandora app or one of the radio station apps on the phone in order to ensure clear sound.

Yamaha PDX-30BL Speaker Dock for iPod and iPhone, 1 Each (Black) Review

I have checked out almost all the iPod/iTouch speakers on the market ever since I added the XM radio app to my iTouch. Since I was hoping to play XM fo rextended periods,I needed a speaker that would charge my second generation while it was playing. Here is a word of caution to anyone in the same situation: not all docking players will charge as they play, especially when it comes to the second generation. Before I bought the unit I actually called Yamaha and they assured me on two different occasions that their player would indeed charge as playing. And it does. Then you have to hear it to believe it. The sound is exceptional, probably better than units that are twice as expensive. The reputation of Yamaha as a maker of quality audio products shines through. Now would anyone want to buy a somewhat used Altec-Lansing?

Sylvania Dock and Clock Radio for iPod (Pink) Review

Sylvania Dock and Clock Radio for iPod (Pink)

I ordered this iPod/Radio clock to have at work, something basic and not expensive in case someone else broke it. It keeps me informed of the time while providing me a way to listen to my iPod at work. It's not the best out there, but I was only looking for a basic iPod player with a clock on it. The only irritation I faced was how if I used my iPhone, the cellular connection would constantly cause the speaker to buzz loudly. I don't have very good cell phone reception in this particular corner so it would constantly blast off. Thus, I had to start bringing my iPod separately and just keep the phone away from that corner. Otherwise, I am pretty satisfied that I got what I paid for.
