Reason for buying : Obviously, I want to get up on time. I usually get up when it is dark and wake up with the kid throughout the night often times needing to check what time it is.
Expectations: Had nothing but Braun alarm clocks all my life, needed this one to measure up.
Good: Keeps time accurate....that is about it.
Bad: no snooze, no luminous dials, no integrated light, alarm can easily be off by 10 minutes, you need a flashlight to see it at night (that defeats the purpose), battery compartment cover falls off easily, high price tag for little value.
Bottom line: 2 day usage, I am annoyed with the lacking features which can be expected at this price tag. Will return item to seller today.

BRAUN AB1A Quartz Travel Clock (Black) Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this little clock for quite some time; despite the fact that most hotel rooms come with clocks, I prefer my travel alarm.
1. It's analog and easy to set.
2. The alarm is pleasant, and the button on top is easy to find when one is groping around in the dark.
3. The clock is barely the size of half a pack of cigarettes and only slightly thicker.
4. It only takes one AA battery and is sparing of the power; the battery lasts a long time.
5. It is so reasonably priced that I can throw one in each of my suitcases; the overnight bag and the one I take for a week or two.
6. It's actually nice enough to make a desk clock, especially if you have a small desk.
This is a wonderful little present for anyone who travels. Or if you travel, it's a must-have.

(More customer reviews)Braun Voice Controlled Travel Alarm Clock BlackI bought this to replace the German made Braun alarm that it's designed to mimic. The old one lasted about 20 years. It turns out, this one has a little foil sticker on the bottom that says "Made in China". The voice control feature didn't work unless I held it right in front of my mouth and screamed! (Not good for my wife, who sleeps next to me.) A tap on the case with my fingernail did the job though, so I kept it awhile (and disposed of the packaging). The dial light was much more useful than the little microphone.
Last week, the alarm didn't sound at all a couple of mornings; just a soft click and then nothing. This week, when it does sound, the snooze just peeps three times and quits. Do the people who make this understand that the purpose of it is to get me to work on time, ...every time!?
I'd click zero stars for the rating if it was an option. I can get a cheap, badly designed, Chinese made battery alarm at Walmart for ten dollars. Forty-two bucks for this is a scandal! Braun should be ashamed! I hope I can get my money back without the box. The vendor sure shouldn't re-package it for sale!
