(More customer reviews)I didn't need to look at the instructions to get this going and set the alarm. It is very easy to use.
The iPod/iPhone sits pretty high up. The dock is not recessed, and the unit is very light weight, so I have placed it on a shelf that is somewhat protected from my knocking it to the floor if and when I fumble for it to shut it off. It really does not seem very sturdy, and I question how long it will last, but, so far, it's working great.
The sound is nice and clear, and the fm radio reception is excellent. Much better than the other clock radio I have in my room. The charging connector for the my iPhone fits nicely and works well. I gave it four of five stars, because it works well, but feels kind of cheap, even at this price level.

Time and alarm are not difficult to setup. However, I stopped using this alarm clock after one night because the thing lit up my room and I couldn't sleep. I needed an alarm clock, not an additional lamp.

(More customer reviews)Wish my husband wouldn't have thrown the box away so quickly. I would have sent it back. After playing it for about 2 weeks the sound fades in and out. My IPhone worked great when I first got it. Now my music (the iphone setting on the radio) keeps shutting off. Goes back to regular clock mode and that is never the right time either. I always go by reviews before I purchase a product so I was surprised how awful this radio is. Would not recommend it to anyone. I really got burned.
My husband did recycling the week after I got this so I no longer have the box to return it.

(More customer reviews)I bought this alarm clock for it's ease of operation and dimmer for the clock, I like almost everything about it except for one not so small thing...the alarm volume. It is NOT adjustable (at least as far as I can tell). It starts out at 20% of max volume for about 30 seconds, then goes to 70% max volume and stays that way! I'm going to try and contact the company to see if there's any way this can be fixed. I like to lay in bed and listen to music for a little while before I get up for the day, but NOT at 70% volume...if not for this "flaw" I would have given it 5 stars.

Sound quality is good, fm reception is excellent, the size is small enough not to take up much space on the kitchen counter, and the extra feature of being able to plug in an iPod is a bonus. The old radio did not have a back-up battery, and this one does, which is another plus.

I love that I can set the volume for the alarm itself so that I can listen to music while I fall asleep and not have to worry about it being to low in the morning to wake me up. I also love that I can turn the backlight off at night. The only issue I have with it is that it is really easy to accidently snooze for longer than you would like. If you push the snooze button more than once it increases the snooze time, so be careful with that.

(More customer reviews)This is the first time that I have ever written a review for a product. I was hesitant on buying it the first time because there were no reviews. Even after owning it for only one day I felt compelled to write a review as I see it is getting only a two star review and it deserves so much better.
I first saw the Iluv Imm178 in a magazine advertisement and thought it sounded wonderful. My husband has to get out of bed at 3:45 for work in the morning. To avoid waking our children up he has always used his alarm on his phone and put it on vibrate. He then clenches his phone all night long and wakes often to ensure he is still holding it. Obviously, he doesn't get a lot of sleep because of this. So, when I saw the bed shaker I thought it would be wonderful (if it worked) so I got this product although I was hesitant because of the lack of reviews. I did look at the older model and considered it but when I looked at the negatives in the review, it looked like the company fixed all of the complaints and I definitely believe they have.
Well, it came in yesterday and although it has only been a day I am so pleased. Now, if you are expecting a Bose sound system, you aren't going to find it. Don't get me wrong, the sound it great, but let's have practical expectations for a $100 alarm clock. The sound surprisingly can fill a room and the bass and treble are adjustable to what your music preference is. We were very pleased with the sound.
The entire unit is easy to use. I had no problems setting the alarms and all the bells and whistles. It really does have quite a few wonderful features. You can even set the snooze to different time increments. It can return 5,7,9, or 15 minutes later. Finally the bed shaker, the reason why I bought it. We first gave it a test run before bed in which I set it 5 minutes ahead. I actually forgot I had set it and it made me jump so high when it went off! My husband used it to wake him up this morning and he woke up immediately. I am surprised that it would not wake up some people. Anyway, we are happy and no more cell phone alarm clock! Thank you Iluv!

(More customer reviews)I bought this to work with my new iPhone after I discovered that none of the iHome models currently support the iPhone 4. I just returned an iHome to Costco when it wouldn't even charge my iPod Touch 4Gen. So I was happy to read on several tech blogs that this one would be compatible with the iPhone 4. So is this one truly functional for the new iPhone? Yes and no.
The clock does charge the phone without any annoying prompts, however the Play/Pause/FF/RW buttons do not work when you play songs via iTunes. Yet, those same buttons work fine when I play songs via Pandora. The thing I was really hoping for was some integration of the built in iPhone alarm. There is none. The options are to wake to a tone, a radio station, or whatever the last song you were listening to on your iPod/iPhone. All of these start out at 20% volume and slowly increase to 70%. Personally, I think I'll stick with the built in one one the phone and just use the clock to charge the iPhone.
Some of the other parts of the clock I like are:
Nice sound, not too tinny; Line-in jack; great dimmer on the clock face; can sync time with phone easily; battery backup; iPhone lays down on an adjustable support; mannish good looks.
Some of the hokey parts are:
No AM radio, no option for line-in alarm; setting the time (manually) and alarm involves spinning the volume knob many many times.
All in all it's a decent way to charge your phone by the bed if the price doesn't bust your budget.
