La Crosse Technology WS-8117U-IT-C Digital Wall Clock, with Temperature and Moon Phase Review

I've had this clock for a month now, and it works great. After setting the clock, it took about 2 days to receive the signal from the time laboratory in Colorado. I purchased the model with the cherry finish and the finish looks high quality. Goes perfectly with the cherry cabinets in my office. The outside temperature sensor is very accurate. Always within +/- 1F of weather.com. I had no problems installing the outside temperature sensor (attached to siding under my covered porch). Several reviewers mentioned the counter-intuitive moon phase display (the shaded graphic display represents that part of the moon that's exposed to the sun vs. using the unshaded graphic to represent this)so I had no problem adjusting to this because I was already forwarned. I definitely would recommend this clock.

La Crosse Technology WT-8005U-B Atomic Digital Wall Clock with Indoor Temperature, Black Review

Purchased to replace my trusted old Atomic clock (different brand) that worked for 5+ years.
Good and no frill design. Bought it at around $20.
Positives
---------
- Large and high contrast display, easy to read from far across a room
- Receiver is more sensitive (getting atomic clock signal immediately and during the day, when my old one was only correcting at night (Atomic clock RF signals travel better at night) about 10' from the nearest window). BTW, if you want to get the right clock immediately and during the day, go near a window with clear view to the outside and press clock sync button on the back for manual sync.
- Easy to follow instruction, and the web address for the instruction is printed right next to the battery compartment (handy, since we need to refer to instruction when we change the batteries)
- Simple timezone setting (one button to toggle four USA time zones) -- more on this on Neutral (below) also.
- Daylight Savings Time reflects the correct calendar period -- some of the older products somehow does not understand the new daylight savings time period in USA, but this one does.
- If you care about accuracy of the temperature display, mine was correct within 0.5 oF, compared to my lab instrument -- your clock's accuracy may vary :-).
Negative
----------
- Instruction is not clear for the first initialization. Could only select the timezone AFTER the clock searched for the Atomic clock signal... (a few minutes), but the instruction does not say that. I thought I had a faulty unit at first. Better instruction needed.
Neutral
--------
- MAKE SURE that you plan to use this clock in continental USA (ONLY the 4 time zones, Eastern, Central, Mountain, and Pacific). But then again, I don't think you could receive the atomic clock signal if you are outside of these zones in North America.
Helpful Hints
--------------
- Fold up the instruction booklet and tape it near the battery compartment on the back -- you'll be glad you did in about 18+ months.
- I am a big fan of Atomic clocks -- one in almost every room in my house -- and found that most of the external temp sensor version needs battery changes every 6 month or so, while the non-external temp version, like this one, needs battery change every 12~24 months (all using alkaline batteries). So I use rechargeable for the clocks with external temp sensor (both the clock and the sensor) now, and alkaline batteries otherwise.

Mount it on the wall or rest it on the night stand, this digital, self-setting clock frequently checks radio signals from the US Atomic Clock to automatically set itself, keeping you right on time all the time—a great feature that's got you covered if the power goes out, or (where applicable) for those who forget to spring forward or fall back. A perpetual calendar displays day of the week readable at a glance. Indoor temperature is displayed along with the time in big bold digits that are easy to read. The unit is also equipped with an alarm with snooze for tableside use. Quick Time Zone selection makes this a great travel alarm. The unit hangs on the wall or sets up freestanding on the desktop. It's powered by 2 AA batteries (not included), which last up to 2 years.

Atomic Clock With Indoor Outdoor Temperature Review

Atomic Clock With Indoor Outdoor Temperature

The only thing that kept me from giving this item 5 stars was the questionable accuracy of the remote temperature sensor. But for $30, who's expecting perfection?
The clock face is big and bold, and the automatic time adjustments (atomic clock) are a big bonus as we live rurally and power seems to go out often. I hung this clock high up in the entry way for the kids to look at before heading out to the school bus, and they love checking the temperature to know how many layers to dress in.
As mentioned, the temperature accuracy is questionable when it get below zero (Minnesota... BRRRRRR...) but who's to quibble over a few degrees this way or that?
We've had this clock for 18 months now, and yesterday was the first time I replaced the batteries in the remote unit. The clock batteries are still going strong.
I heartily recommend this product for the average consumer.

The first one had something wrong with it and they had us return it for a replacement. The replacement was sent promptly and worked just fine.

This atomic digital wall clock from La Crosse Technology not only conveys the precise time and date, but also informs users of current indoor and outdoor temperatures. Radio-controlled by transmissions from the national atomic clock in Fort Collins, CO, the clock regularly resets time for increased accuracy and adapts automatically for daylight savings time. A remote TX38U sensor transmits climate data at 915 MHz from up to 200 feet from the clock.
Sleek in black casing, the wall clock benefits from a built-in stand for optional table placement. The LCD clock expresses the time in either a 12-hour or 24-hour format. Along the bottom of the screen, the clock conveys the date, day of week, indoor temperatures ranging from 14.2 to 99.9 degrees F, and outdoor temperatures ranging from -39.8 to 139.8 degrees F. English, French, German, and Spanish languages are available for day display, and temperatures can be viewed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit degrees. Using the functions on the back, the user selects the appropriate time zone from +/-12 GMT for atomic time coordination. This interface also permits the user to deactivate the auto DST feature and to set the alarm and its 10-minute snooze. To power the clock and the sensor, the separate purchase of two AA batteries and two AAA batteries is required; replacement is indicated with low battery icons. A limited one-year warranty covers this item. The clock measures 9 inches wide by 4/5 inch deep by 7-1/5 inches high, while the sensor measures 1-1/3 inches wide by 1/2 inch deep by 3-2/5 inches high.
