The directions are a little tricky to figure out, but once you've gotten the hang of the clock it's really fun to use. The Dalek has three different noises - two sounds and one shout of "exterminate!" It's a fun and exciting way to wake up. The alarm clock is smaller than I imagined but it's pretty durable and VERY lightweight. The projection light is easy to use (you just push the Dalek down) and the time shows up on your ceiling.
I would not purchase this clock for a child simply because the front attachments seem like they could break off easily.
