(More customer reviews)I just bought a shake-n-wake through Amazon, and also was troubled by the hourly chime, the "major design flaw" mentioned in another review.
I discovered that pressing the "Time Set" and "Mode" button simultaneously toggles the hourly chime on and off. When the date display indicates "SU MO TU WE TH FR SA" after pressing these buttons simultaneously, the hourly chime is on. The date display will go blank after toggling the hourly chime off.
You surely will want to turn the hourly chime off. Your local church may get away with ringing its bells every hour, but your shake-n-wake must not. It is disappointing that the instructions do not mention this feature, and that customer support was not able to help the person who wrote the earlier review.
