It has settings for using my iPod (the setting I use most), listening to the radio, and also functions as an alarm clock. The fact that I can charge my iPod while using it with the speakers is one of its best features. I really like how portable it is with it's own case and everything. Although it can use battery power, I generally use it plugged in. I'd recommend this product for a more economical version of the iHome.
