The 1984 Seiko Pyramid Talking Clock had the distinction of being the first talking quartz clock, and now, a couple of iterations later, the new Seiko Pyramid Talking Desk Clock (2010) has arrived. Features: hourly (on/off) time announcement , automatic calendar, alarm (3 minutes duration), snooze, temperature (C only) , and auto speaking button that will announce the current time every 1 minute for 15 minutes, volume control, illuminated band that lights on the hourly time announcement, and a female voice accompaniment to help set various functions. Accurate to +/- 1 second per ½ year. Size: 4" x 4" (base), 3.25" tall. Requires 3 AA batteries. Aesthetically pleasing, and after 3 months use, this Seiko does everything as functionally claimed and does them well---a good deal! Seiko's next up-date should add an "atomic-time" functionality.
